We have to keep it up

Hello --

When President Obama asked you to tell us what the middle-class tax cuts meant for your families, we knew you'd speak up. But I don't think any of us were prepared for this.

The stories started pouring in immediately. Within a couple hours, we received messages from tens of thousands of people. Folks from every state in the country took time to write in. You nearly took over Twitter, where the hashtag #My2K trended all day.

And people are starting to pay attention. News outlets are writing stories about how everyday Americans are engaged in this debate. Decision makers are coming to the sudden realization that they can't ignore the perspective of the middle class when it comes to cutting taxes.

You're changing an entire policy conversation. And we have to keep it up.

Tell us what $2,000 means to middle-class families.

There's no denying the power of your voices.

We heard from a woman in Alabama who explained that $2,000 was a crucial part of her family budget -- the choice between two house payments, three car payments, or medical prescriptions for a year.

We heard from a farmer in Michigan, just starting his business, who wants to use $2,000 to invest in two greenhouses so he can extend his growing season.

We heard from a dad in Indiana who did the math and realized that $2,000 will buy groceries for his family for 23.5 weeks.

We heard from graduate students working to pay down student loans and parents trying to help put their kids through school.

And these folks are not alone. Unless Congress acts, 114 million middle-class American families are staring down a tax increase starting January 1.

So we need you to join them. We're doing everything to draw attention to the stories you share with us. We're sharing them on Facebook and Twitter. We're putting them on the front page of the White House website.

Will you speak out today?

http://www.whitehouse.gov/my2k

Thanks,

David

This conservative is just about ready to give up. I am almost completely drained of energy and the will to resist. Does the GOP care anymore?

It means a lot. I'm tired of my money being stolen to support a bunch of democrat freeloaders who are just too lazy to get their own jobs.

Stop stealing our wages. Cut spending. Get rid of the waste! Let us keep the $2,000 WE'VE earned.

Unfortunately nobody is listening to our lamentations, the MSM ignores us, the Democrats laugh at us and the Republicans have a tin ear.

In a word "NO". The only reason anyone runs for political office is for personal gain and power. Running for office to better constituent's lives is BS. They may better constituents with pork, but their motives are to get re-elected and continue to receive their over sized paychecks and to amass power.

People may have a few weeks of uncertainty and confusion about their what their true take-home pay will be, wondering just what they’ll be paid and what they owe in taxes. I especially feel for those living month to month. But there is no way the middle class tax hike will not be reversed in very quick order.

Do you know of any politicians who haven't retired as multimillionaires? They go there to get rich. We're their slaves.

When an American infant is born, it receives a certificate of birth and a number. That child is worth a life time of sweat equity. It's given a financial value. Our government sells that child's future labor, it's life of slavery, on the market as bonds.
Governments buy and sell the lives of those infants to each other.

(So what happens if our dollar crashes and the other nations want to collect on their purchases? The only way to collect what they've bought and paid for is by psychically taking the children and forcing them into labor camps, BTW. They bought them. They own them. )

The GOP has no power and if they did, we still could not count on them.

But the principle of the matter is that it seems to be ok to tax the rich (surely they did not WORK for their money) , at a higher rate rather than providing tax cut to all.

Don’t buy in to class warfare.

Awesome point!

These are the Republican Tax Rates ~ The Republican Tax Cuts that Obama is threatening.

That needs to hit the Twitter-world.

People do like the Republican tax rates better than the Øbama's Fiscal Cliff Vacation.

A lot of libs I know believed that Bush only cut taxes for the rich; they were surprised when I told them that all incomes rec’d a tax cut.

That may very well be true for those currently camped out in Washington, but it is absolutely NOT true for everyone running now. I know I personally want to try to make people listen and make the changes we need. The problem is getting traction when the establishment guy has been there for 20 years!!!

If 200 million taxable entities ( families, singles,) maintain a $2000/year tax reduction by extending the Bush Tax Cuts, the government “loses” a theoretical 400 billion.

They need to lose 3 times that.

Markets will fill the real needs, not the imaginary obamaneeds of the obamaneedy.

“Your money? You are tired of “your money” being stolen? I am getting sick and may well puke as I paid 25% off the top in 1975. I could not believe it when I filed my wife’s back taxes for 1998 and 1999 years ago. She was given more money back for having two kids (Tax Credits) then made/she reported. No wonder these folks want that big tax refund plus another 2K. Hell, I am ashamed of this country as I paid taxes in combat as an officer in 68-69. Everything over 500 a month was taxed.I paid a larger percentage of taxes as a Private then these whiners pay today. When the poor wage war with the rich-it is the poor who die.

I don’t doubt that many that run for any political office run for altruistic reason, but once in any political office things begin to change. I have watched many with the purest of intents become political whores and succumb to the lure of power and prestige of political position.

Hard to ignore the glitter, pomp and circumstance that goes with political office.

Heady stuff.

The perfect reason there should be term limits -— whether by law, or self-imposed until then!!!

The welfare freeloaders are raking in $40,000-$60,000 in benefits every year without even getting out of bed. All they have to do is walk to the mail box once a month.

I know some really, really hard working people who don't even make half that much!!!!

The problem isn't the hard working tax payers. The problem is the social paracites. All they do is feed.

Those are “the Bush tax cuts for the middle class” that the democrats denied as ineffective or nonexistent for the past 10 years, and are now panicking over losing

I couldn’t say until I know how much I’ll ACTUALLY have after the Federal, State and local governments have raped it...

Somebody needs to call them on their bi-polar claims. They say the Bush tax cuts only benefited the rich and now get away with all the tear-jerker stories about how repealing them (something the Dims set up to happen and would not back away from), will harm the non-rich...
