Four Hofstra University basketball players were arrested on burglary charges stemming from dormitory room break-ins, police said Friday.

Detectives said the players were charged in six burglaries that occurred between Oct. 4 and Nov. 5, but they suspect there have been numerous other thefts starting at the beginning of the semester.

Shocked I tell you, why the two on each end look like fine young scholars pursuing academic excellence.

Once they get past this minor blemish on their otherwise sterling records, I have little doubt that at least one of them will serve on the Supreme Court.

Hmmm...I was about to add a /sarc tag but the ways things are anymore, perhaps not.

When I was in college I would swim every day at noon. There were a bunch of Eric Holder's people who always hung out in the locker room when they weren't playing basketball. At the beginning of one semester I brought money with me to pay for books and put in my locker. When I got back, my lock had been cut and my money emptied from my wallet. I knew who it was. Everybody knew who it was, even the guard who defended them.

Eric Holder's people have a civil right to stead from non-Eric Holder's people.

As if we needed more proof that college athletes are woefully underpaid. This would never happen at USC or Auburn.

“As soon as I saw the words “basketball” and “burglaries”, something just clicked in my mind. Yep, that was it.”

Precisely my thought. Doncha’ get tired of being right all the time?....... How soon do you think they will be “michael vicked” back into Hofstra?

to be fair, I am not right every time.

But often enough that I can still be pretty sure.

And then there’s this.

“Last month, Hofstra suspended two other players, Taran Buie and Jamal Coombs-McDaniel, for violating team rules. The suspensions were for two preseason events and two regular-season games. Hofstra cited student privacy laws in providing no further information in that case.”

Taran and Jamal. Hmmmm !

.

“Yep. The guy showed up the first day and my friend never, ever saw him in class again.”

Did your friend not have to sign something certifying the guy’s grades ?

Taran and Jamal. Hmmmm!

My initial inclination, of course, was to presume that these two were of Scandinavian descent and hailed from a place like Grand Forks, North Dakota. Imagine my utter astonishment when I searched for the names and found otherwise.

Taran Buie

Jamal Coombs-McDaniel

What a huge mistake it was by my ancestors to bring those people over here in chains. We are paying for it now.

This post (#18) from Uncle Lonny is worth a read from a recent Free Republic thread:

Black on white violent crime, much of it racially motivated, is epidemic in the USA compared to the reverse. Not only in the USA where blacks keep beating the dead horse of slavery as an excuse, but in countries, like Canada, Ireland, UK and in Europe where they don't even consider it.

It is no accident that the safest states and communities in the USA for violent crime are those with the fewest percentage of blacks. And even in states like Iowa where they are 3 percent of the population or in Seattle where they are less than 10 percent, blacks commit violent crime on a scale often close to ten times their per capita pop.

But any attempt to honestly address racist motivation in black crime will be trumped with the Race Card, and almost all whites grovel before the Race Card.

That's beyond my scope of knowledge. I went to a very Conservative Christian college back in the early 60's. I think the wildest thing that ever happened during my years there was a overdue book at the campus library.
