Earlier this month Trekkies were treated to a minute-long teaser trailer for the eagerly awaited Into Darkness movie.
But now fans of the hit Star Trek franchise have another minute of footage to relish with the release of an extended trailer.
The latest one is almost two-minutes long, with fast-paced running scenes and fiery explosions, all set to an emotive musical score that descends into a foreboding drone.

Thanks. Looks like Holmes vs. Kirk, with a similar over voice trailer as the new Superman man of steel.
Good special effects.
So that goofy-looking Enterprise gets destroyed. Good.
Now if only this horrible reboot would get destroyed.
Give me a Commander Kirk [and a Spock, and an Uhuru] with a little life-experience. A couple wrinkles. Just a few.
40 should be the minimum age for a starship commander.
It doesn't sound to me like that's Kirk hit with self-doubt. It sounds like Admiral Pike trying to talk some humility into him instead.
I saw the extended trailer, over the weekend,it really makes me want to see the movie.
George Washington was a general at 22. :)
The federation is the equivalent of a navy. I may be wrong, but if you get appointed a rank due to circumstances, and do the job well, they probably won’t demote you.
But somebody, who knows better, can correct me if you can’t keep a rank that you get appointed to.
I can’t wait...Looks a bit darker then other Star Trek films...
Yeah, but, c'mon, life expectancy was about 40 then.
I'm just being a crank [but you knew that.] Even back in '69, Commander Kirk must have been pushing 40. A more mature Kirk would spark more interest from me in the new films.
But, of course, I won't go see them anyway. So, who cares?

Gah! They put way to much guyliner on the male actors these days. Otherwise looks like a good date movie for hubby to take me to.
The missing closed caption will state "Thinking about which green Orion Slave-girl to hit, or both?..."
More wussification of Star Fleet.
First they make the Captain a wimp who chooses Earl Grey Tea over Romulan Brandy (then later try to rehbilibate his machismo in a bar fight but too late) AND put a touchy-feely “counselor” (read: liberal doubter).
I was rooting for the Borg. Now I can root for the bad guy,
Age or waist measurement?
FWIIW, James T. Kirk was 31 when he took command of the Enterprise (according to the original canon).
Shatner’s Kirk was 34...he says so in “The Deadly Years.”
