UKIP candidate Geoffrey Clark calls for compulsory abortion of babies with Down syndrome

Geoffrey Clark, who is running for for a seat on the Kent Council as a member of the U.K. Independence Party (UKIP), has called for the compulsory abortion of all babies with Down syndrome, spina bifida, and other birth defects or disabilities. He also advocated for free euthanasia for anyone over the age of 80. Clark posted a “manifesto” on his personal website, which included the following:

Consider compulsory abortion when the foetus is detected as having Downs, Spina Bifida, or similar syndrome which, if it is born, will render the child a burden on the state as well as on the family.

He has since apologized, saying he regretted his choice of language:

I would like to apologise to anyone who has taken offence – none of it was intended.

UKIP’s policy is to reduce public expenditure. I am a layman; I do not know what should be cut. I wrote my website very, very quickly, it was so naive and foolish.

… Some have been offended and I sincerely regret my choice of language. It was inappropriate language to express something that is genuinely sincere – we need to review all expenditure.

And while he’s apologized, the offensive material remains on his website. He just added a small disclaimer after his proposal that all babies with disabilities be forcibly aborted.

manifesto

How disgusting and abhorrent can a person be? It’s one thing entirely to allow for the murder of an innocent baby purely because he has a disability. To make such babies’ abortions mandatory is completely despicable. It’s what normal people call “eugenics,” something the Nazis were rather fond of. And Clark, even in his phony apology, doesn’t get that. He still brushes it off as nothing more than “reviewing expenditure.”

This is a man who sees the compulsory murder of innocent children as nothing more than a way to reduce Britain’s national debt. He can apologize all he wants to, but this is a man who should never, ever be in a position of authority.

Wisely, UKIP has since suspended him from the party

The fact there was an outcry sufficient enough to be reported on and cause some comment is heartening to me.

I am confused though,,which language choice does he regret?

The only surprise here is that he was until I guess only hours ago, a member of the UKIP.

Marxists have to take this position, although usually privately, and wouldn’t dare express it in public. And that is his only regret. The individual means nothing - has no value, only the collective does. Stalin would have proud of this guy.

UKIP did good to dump him. If this moron needed suggestions for fiscal sanity, they could start with dumping third world muslim immigrants from UK entitlement bennies and deporting them back to point of origin or pre-existing shariah compliant hellhole of their choice.

Think of this analogy: T-Party and 2 mid-western losing senatorial candidates, one from Mizzou and the other Indiana.

UKIP shows some promise as I understand it.

Add homosexuals to that list of birth defects just to further the debate.

This is what the future holds.

For the entire planet.

For centuries to come.

“But if we fail, then the whole world, including the United States, including all that we have known and cared for, will sink into the abyss of a new Dark Age made more sinister, and perhaps more protracted, by the lights of perverted science.” - Winston Churchill

We are there.

So long as Nigel Farage remains head of UKIP, hope remains.

I have a beautiful four year old grandson, born with spina bifida that was not detected prior to birth. Since our grandson missed his prenatal appointment with the abortionist, I wonder if this ghoul would advocate murder instead of the surgery our little guy had at 22 hours old. Since that opportunity passed, too, perhaps this fiend would advocate murder now.

Sarah Palin ran for VP when our grandson was an infant. She said when she looked at Trig she saw perfection. I think of that every day. We truly feel privileged this child is in our family. He inspires everyone who knows him. At four.

That’s incredible, here is UKIP always being called “nazis” and now this schmuck decides to actually act like a nazi.

Good going, not!

Glad to see this update.

And what was with this “I am a layman; I do not know what should be cut.”

So, why the h*ll are you running for office?

This guy just won People Mag’s “schmuckiest man alive” award.

The problem is that UKIP is a libertarian party, and that by definition means that people are given a good deal more lattitude when stating their positions and the party is much more tolerant of divergent opinion. Or to put it rather more cynically, there are a lot of outright nutters who have gotten involved with the party because they think it will support their pet projects.
