Woman Arrives Home to Find Driveway Missing
Ocala Star-Banner ^ | Wednesday, December 12, 2012 | Austin L. Miller

Sheriff’s detectives hope the public can help them find approximately 300-square-feet of brick pavers stolen from a driveway Tuesday.

The victim told Deputy Michelle Wright that she left her home in the 4500 block of Northwest 120th Street around 7:30 a.m. When she arrived home at 6 p.m. and drove onto the driveway, she felt a large “bump.” She said she got out of her vehicle and noticed that the concrete pavers used to make the driveway were missing.

A witness told the deputy about seeing two men digging up the pavers, but said the activity didn’t seem suspicious because the victim had workers constructing a barn on the property.

The men are described as a tall, heavyset black male in his 30s and a white male of small build who stood roughly 5-feet 3-inches tall. They were driving an older model black pickup hauling a flat-bed utility trailer.

Anyone with information can call Detective Gregory Spates at 402-6092 or Crime Stoppers at 368-STOP, or visit www.ocalacrimestoppers.com.

Gives new meaning to the term “street value”.

It’s call REPOSSESSION. If she’s not willing to pay the people that did the work, don’t expect their materials to stay there forever
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Can’t repossess or damage a driveway whether they pay you or not.

Do either of above and you will end up putting it back in and probably get a fine + and in the right case YOUR company may have a ‘new owner’.
At least in VA, MD and DC used to be that way.

Same as if your crew paves the WRONG driveway.

You ‘eat’ it and the other is considered a ‘gift’.
Plus you still have a signed contract for the original.

This small business etc BS ain’t always a walk in the park.

Pavers are $1.50-3.00 each. They aren't cheap.

“Where does it say that ?”

It doesn’t have to...it’s standard MO in the business. Most likely she didn’t like their work, and didn’t pay them. They didn’t appreciate that, so they took the materials back.

Happens all the time.

“Can’t repossess or damage a driveway whether they pay you or not.”

Not legally, but the guys laying down pavers are not exactly legal scholars - but they do want to get paid.

It's not a repossession job. The people who took the pavers just took them.

Witnesses said the suspect in the center seemed nervous and kept repeating "I do think this is a good idea guys".

I thought I was the only fan of trailer park boys in the U.S. I got my 13 year old son to watch an episode. He said it was stupid but it wasn't long before he and my Daughter where both addicted.

Why do we drive on parkways and park in driveways?

I have heard Bubbles play with RUSH. I liked the episode where they kidnap Alex Lifeson. I think I like all their episode.
