HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) Authorities Friday continued to investigate a burglary at a church in Hollywood.
A statement issued by Los Angeles police says the burglary at Holy Transfiguration Russian Orthodox Church happened on Dec. 22.
According to police, the suspected thief had entered the churchs altar room in the 5400 block of Fernwood Avenue and made off with 37 religious artifacts.
Among the artifacts taken were numerous crosses and ornate cups. To view photos of the stolen items, visit the LAPD web site.
Anyone with more information about this incident is asked to contact the Hollywood-area Detective Division at (213) 972-2931.
Police said calls made during non-business hours should be directed to 1 (877) LAPD-24-7
Disgusting. I hope cops catch the perps.
This would be a chalice, beside a pedestal paten topped by an asterisk.
Pretty low to be breaking into a church and stealing the communion set.
I am hoping they were stolen merely for their potential retail value.
...unwisely
Back in the 1980’s, I knew a member of that church who was active in Young Americans for Freedom and other conservative causes.
Altar room? C'mon. Could this refer to the Sanctuary? I swear, the ignorance of today's "journalists" is monumental but never more so than when reporting on religion, and the Christian religion in particular.
