If you like to feed the birds, always put out an extra feeder for the squirrels. And grow sunflowers in the summer. When they get ripe, the squirrels bite off the giant heads and carry them away. Fun to watch.
We had a squirrel feeder on an old oak tree that the squirrels were frequently in. We would stick a corn cob on a long nail so they could sit & pick at it. One day something caught my eye...a corn cob moving slowly up a very long limb, high up in the tree. One greedy fellow decided to take the WHOLE cob!
