MIAMI (CBSMiami) – As gun control becomes a central focus of Washington in the first few months of the 113th Congress, Floridians are buying guns at a frenetic pace.

In 2012, 797,970 Floridians requested background checks so they could purchase weapons. That total represented nearly 200,000 more than in 2011 and almost double the number from 2004, according to CBS4 news partner the Miami Herald.

The numbers spiked after President Barack Obama won re-election, even though Obama had not even addressed gun control in either campaign. There was a similar spike after the Newtown, Connecticut school shooting when gun control began to come back into the political conversation

According to the Herald, there were 131,103 background check requests in December 2012. That was the highest number the Florida Department of Law Enforcement had recorded in any single month.

The previous high in a month for background checks had been 84,745 which was set in November when President Obama was re-elected. FDLE numbers showed that background checks also spiked in November and December 2008 when Obama was first elected.

Are you paying attention Republicans? This MATTERS! Millions of Americans are protesting with their wallets right now, spending thousands of dollars in an economy that makes thousands of dollars more precious than ever. You think they won't punish you in the mid term elections if you screw them on this? You better think again.

We will primary you over this. We will definitely remember any treachery on this and we will definitely remove all traitors. We are legion and you will rue the day you betray us.

The people of Florida are arming up for the coming “Great Sniper War” against the tyrants and their thugs. For some, it might also be a great time to exact some revenge on those responsible for taking us there.

The gun grabber snitches will be photographing license plates at the gun ranges, they may even send the infamous Google Earth spy car around.

Why do you think we’re stocking up here in FL?

The ballot box doesn’t work. Nor does the soap box. Nor the mail box.

That leaves us only one box left. And they’re going to outlaw that one, too, if they don’t tax it into oblivion first.

Quite a few years ago I was in a barber shop and heard very similar thoughts being expressed. It sent a chill down my back, but being a logical person I can see where some people would think this way. And I must admit in a most admiring way the restraint Americans have shown toward the Judges and the “elected leaders” we have at present.
