Why nobody really cares if Storage Wars is fake

These days, if you Google “Storage Wars,” likely two things will come up. First, is the fact that yet another version of the ever-popular A&E reality show is set to launch in January – Storage Wars: New York – and, second, that one of the original cast members, David Hester, recently claimed in a lawsuit that “nearly every aspect of the show is faked.” The latter has somewhat overshadowed the former in terms of publicity, and yet, based on the continued popularity of the series, there’s little doubt Storage Wars: New York will be a success, because if there’s anything we know about ourselves these days, it’s that nobody cares if reality television is exactly the opposite of what it says it is.

To explain: Storage Wars is an immensely successful program that shows, half an hour at a time, a group of Californians who spend their time bidding on repossessed storage lockers in the hopes of finding something inside that will make them a large profit. Generally, at least one of the five main characters is successful – sometimes wildly – but often, some go home having lost cash on their purchases. It seems real enough. But in his recent lawsuit, Hester claims the show’s producers sometimes salt lockers with items that weren’t originally there (perhaps uncovered in another locker) to make the show more interesting. Hester claims he complained about the practice and was fired from the program. Thus, his litigation.

Sheesh,

Now you all are going to tell me that Finding Bigfoot, and Ghost Hunters and all that are faked also.

All that stuff is just a soap opera. I used to think that wrestling was just a soap opera for men, until I saw how many women liked it also.

That Hester character shouldn’t have got his panties in a wad. He must be dumber than those that watch it if he thought for a minute that it was all on the up and up.

Another person living in an hallucination.

thx... cause it seems that unless they died, anybody with anything of value would have taken it out before they defaulted on their box rent so i would think there should never be very many "rare" finds in them

manufactured drama, life is full of it already

The interesting lesson some of my kin have learned - don’t use self storage facilities; miss a payment, your stuff is gone because it’s legal to sell.
If your stuff doesn’t fit in your house, sell some of it, build a storage shed or otherwise maintain control of it in a way in which it can’t disappear.

“He must be dumber than those that watch it if he thought for a minute that it was all on the up and up”

Uh, the entire point of this thread is that he’s the one telling us it’s fake.

That is true....it has brought in newbies a bit

Here TN by law after 90 days Web can dispose as we wish after making public notice and trying to reach renter via certified at LKA

So we know what is in them and if its really good good we dispose of it ourselves

We sometimes mix units too....

We live by flea market folks and junk shop folks

I have found a few good items....a nice Takamini guitar and an old bedroom set that is in my house

I have had very few show up and pay after say 6 months of no show but we do carry folks if they try or we will move them down to a cheaper unit or from somewhere we have over demand to more vacancy

The public will as a rule take advantage....you have to be resolute sometimes
