Well, were awake now. Largest tremor we've felt here in a long time. If you have friends in S.E. Alaska they probably just felt the quake that woke my family up with shaking and things falling off the shelves.

I use this free SW to track earthquakes since my daughter moved to LA.

I hope you folks are ok, and that no one will be “getting very wet”!

Port Alexander reports a 6 inch wave. The wave has passed Sika and it was less than inch.

I woke uo just a little while ago just before 2am my time 11 miles north of Wasilla, hey guys and gals, thank you very much for thinking about me!

Really, the last month or so I have felt like one of those people with a billboard saying the end is near and everyone is just driving by staring.

Nope, didn’t feel a thing here. Just checked for any alerts, nada. I’m about 500 ft. above sea level way past the Turnagin Arm. My property actually sits on a smaller active fault line, but its mostly rock under me.

Our weather has been unusually warm, up to 40F during the day, what snow we did get is all just sun polished ice now, my recently bough snowmachine is forlornly parked under a tarp, I guess I need to switch to the motorcycles soon.

I think we will see another major quake off the vancouver area, that fault is way past its due date, Seattle of course is in the crosshairs, people THERE I worry for.

Cape Suckling, Alaska (75 miles SE of Cordova) - I do miss those places - many fond memories.

As long as you aren’t near the coast, tsunamis have minimal effect on ships and boats. Just a slow gentle heave. On land, the persistent “heave” or swell causes havoc. If you are near the coast and your boat is carried inland, things can get real bad.
