HOUSTON (AP) - A female Texas death row inmate facing execution this month for the fatal stabbing and bludgeoning of a 71-year-old woman has lost an appeal at the U.S. Supreme Court.
The high court, without comment, refused Monday to review the case of 51-year-old Kimberly McCarthy.
McCarthy is set for lethal injection Jan. 29 for the July 1997 killing of retired college professor Dorothy Booth during a robbery at the victim's home in Lancaster, about 15 miles south of Dallas.
McCarthy is one of 10 women on death row in Texas but the only one with an execution date. At least eight men have executions scheduled in the coming months.
McCarthy would be the fourth Texas woman put to death since the state resumed carrying out capital punishment in 1982
Good riddance.
It deserves to be said that the perpetrator had telephoned Ms. Booth and asked to come over to borrow some sugar. Upon arriving, she bludgeoned Ms. Booth to death and then cut off her ring finger to get to her wedding ring, which she pawned for $200. The evidence against McCarthy is incontrovertible - and serves also to highlight McCarthy's abject stupidity.
Regards,
But with our current dictator, I suppose it is possible.
TX governors cannot pardon or grant clemency because a former Democrat governor was selling them.
Did you make a mistake in posting a current photo of Wanda Sykes as the Perp?
“What About That?”
:^}
I believe it’s the Pardon and Parole Board’s function. But they represent the STATE OF TX. The governor I believe can only delay something for a month but can’t make the ultimate call.
But the point that Obama cannot pardon for a state crime is absolutely correct. Is he going to issue an illegal pardon, then try to use “his people” to attack the place where the executions are done in order to stop the execution?
No.
If he could, he might, but he can’t.
This animal was tried and convicted twice for the same murder, now it wants another trial?
Sorry, loser. You die.

Shades of Carla Fay Tucker!!!! NOT.
I’m sure this ‘lady’ got real religion in prison and has shown contrition blah blah blah......
It’s a good thing that the Barack can’t pardon her.
To the best of my knowledge, you are correct sir. The Barack can do nothing.
I thought the sock puppet that lives in our White House can do whatever he wants to if his handlers say so . . . He obviously doesn't need congress or anything to affix his sockpuppet-signature to any dictator desire on his (or his handlers') mind(s).
Say bye!
The pardon authority of the President is plenary and applies to all jurisdictions, though it is *highly* unusual for the President to grant pardons for non-Federal crimes. As a matter of course, the President generally only grants pardons in special cases, after the case has been reviewed by a pardon board.
Clinton was probably the worst abuser of the Presidential pardon authority; he clearly traded pardons for favors, including the notorious Mark Rich case, where the pardon seemed to the the “quid” given pro the “quo” of a donation to the Clinton Library.
Did not know that, was aware of Clinton's criminal organization, which is not surprising since Truman was the only Rat that was slightly honest since the turn of the Twentieth Century.
Thus my tagline.
It’s hard to remember how truly odious Clinton was. The failure to remove him from office was the Senate’s worst misdeed in the history of the Republic.
Whoa...the Obamaphone lady killed somebody and already is about to get executed?
Texas works fast.
Texas works fast...usually. This murder occured in 1997. Women seem to take longer to execute. Nevertheless, she will be punished soon.
