Democrat voters received a dose of economic reality after their New Years hangovers wore off, when they looked down at their 2013 paystubs and saw not Obama bucks, but higher federal taxes.
How misplaced was their trust in re-electing defender of the middle class tax-raiser President Obama? Workers making $30,000 will take a bigger hit on their pay than those earning $500,000 under the fiscal cliff deal. And Democrats are seeking $1 trillion more in tax revenue by the end of this year.
Now, its not nice to laugh at other peoples shock and surprise, but this is about as delicious as it gets. Voters seem to think that the president can hand out massive freebies like bailouts, stimulus, cash for clunkers, green energy subsidies and Obamacare, while somehow winding up personally protected by President Nice Guy from massive tax hikes and rising inflation.

More like low IQ, spaced out on drugs, VOTERS!
Arugula is still a funny sounding name.
Because the "payroll tax holiday" ended as of January 1. This increases the FICA taxes back to their full amount (as opposed to a temporary 2% cut) for people earning up to the Social Security threshold (just under $100,000, I believe). There are no deductions, exemptions, deferrals, or loopholes to avoid FICA taxes on regular income, so someone making $30,000 is going to have an absolute tax increase of 2% of their gross pay.
For the person making over $400,000, their marginal tax rate may be going up, but unless they find themselves without the means of taking advantage of deductions, et. al., it's unlikely that their effective tax rate will rise by 2% or more, even including the FICA increase on the first $100k or so.
we can't use RAT weasel words to back a straw man RAT argument.(we can save that discussion for another day)
The 2% payroll tax didn't apply to those making 500k?( actually those making 110k or greater ) never-mind they paid the maximum amount possible anyway ? It just took a tad longer to do it.
they weren't affected by the decrease so of course they are “unaffected” by the 2% increase.
Brilliant.
Their marginal rates DID go up...period. Whether they pay additional taxes accordingly, is immaterial to the false argument.
I never should have brought it up. Once we start discussing it, it gives it credence\legitimacy.
Is there a way you could post the whole thing here?
Schadenfreude is the only thing I enjoy about B.O.s reelection.
Zer Gut................
Imagine the indignation when they have to wait in long lines for their “free” contraceptives or the one size fits all government issue birth control.
Just wait for the massive inflation and the 20 dollar Big Mac. No more fat Americans—people will be too poor to eat! This will hit the poor most of all.
