ESPN has issued an apology following Monday night's BCS National Championship game where the world was introduced to Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron's girlfriend, 2012 Miss Alabama USA Katherine Webb.
The problem comes from ESPN host Brent Musburger who spent a fair amount of time talking about Webb, rather than the game. (Video embedded below.)
According to E! Online, ESPN has apologized for the excessive commentary stating, "We always try to capture interesting storylines and the relationship between an Auburn grad who is Miss Alabama and the current Alabama quarterback certainly met that test. However, we apologize that the commentary in this instance went too far and Brent understands that."
Webb didn't seem too phased by Musberger, insisting she didn't think it was creepy at all. The televised attention led to a huge jump in Twitter followers for her, as well as a chance for Donald Trump to try to cash in on her instant fame, if only for a minute, when he tweeted: "We are going to ask Katherine Webb to be a judge at the Miss USA Pageant coming up in Las Vegas."

Really, the QB should be proud
Quite frankly, I was glad to hear someone on ESPN talk about someone not named RG III.
I don’t think it’s the attention to Webb that’s the problem, I think it’s the attention from a man 50 years her senior - over and over and over - that’s the problem.
Simple fix:
Keep your eye on the game/match and not the honey in the stands. They don’t play the game nor impact the outcome.
I’d rather watch Pete Sampras serve (back in the old days) than to see who the current icey blonde he was dating at the time.
This is the second thread on this and I still haven't seen a picture posted. What's this place becoming?
She kinda brings out the dirty old man in me.
(but that doesn't take much)
:)
I did not watch the game. I had to go watch the video to see what all the fuss was about. I saw nothing offensive or inappropriate. I agree ESPN must just be a bunch of fags. Jeez. And, yeah, she is a pretty gal.
No, not ESPN (although I’m sure a couple of their female casters are), but their parent company - Disney/ABC - has a substantial number of homos in its upper management.
Is ESPN GAY???
Shouldn't Webb be the one to make that call?
If she didn't mind then what business is it of anyone else to be offended?
ESPN is as far up Obama’s anal end as CBS, NBC, CBS, etc, etc.

I don't know why you would think that.
Why are they apologizing? It was the best part of the 2nd half of that game.
Brent Musburger
During the game, my BFF posted a story about this and commented on how creepy Musberger sounded. Several of her friends made similar comments on her post. Lets just say that they are southern belle sorority ladies, so if they didn’t like it, then it is not surprising that women all over the country didn’t like it either.
My son said the most frequent comment he heard about the game was, “AJ McCarron’s girlfriend is HOT!” We live in southern Arizona.
That’s what happens when Notre Dame is being hoisted on it’s own petard. We find out Musburger is straight and all hell breaks loose. I live in am alternate universe.
The game sucked. Musberger kept me watching just for the eye candy and his inevitable on camera orgasm. Thank God we only got the candy.
An apology is absurd.
The whole world is crazy.
