Alas, the April 15th filing deadline will not be pushed back as well.

One of the issues I recall reading about last year were all the fraudulent refunds that were auto-issued by IRS in early January based simply on someone’s filed return, many with the same residence address. Never understood why they don’t have to wait until early February after copies of the W-2’s and 1099’s are all received and in the system, then check SS#’s, names and addresses shown on returns requesting a refund again that information.

Of course, totally eliminating federal taxes and replacing them with a consumption task would eliminate the need for all of this.
