New Jersey cop who was spotted sleeping in patrol car now loses loaded gun

A New Jersey cop who was spotted sleeping in his patrol car last summer has now lost a loaded handgun, according to his lawyer.

Trenton Police Officer Richard Takach misplaced the Glock semi-automatic handgun in the city's West Precinct parking lot around 3 a.m. on Monday, his attorney Stuart Alterman said.

"It's not a sign of him being careless," Alterman added. "It was an accident. Nobody intentionally loses a weapon. He was changing in and out of his duty uniform to his street clothes. He was transferring his weapon from his duty holster to an off-duty holster. And unfortunately he lost a weapon. He left it on the car or the truck. When he realized it was gone, he called, he drove back to Trenton, they looked for it, and he notified his superiors immediately."

"It was an accident. Nobody intentionally loses a weapon

I retired from a major Tier 1 stamping plant in Detroit. Many, many years ago, the midnight shift security guard at the back gate to the company lost his company issued service revolver one night.

As it turns out, he was visited that night by a local hooker who used to walk the streets around that area. After servicing him, when she left, she also stole the revolver......which of course he had to report to the head of security.

Since he was in his mid 60's, he was fired then forced to retire. It took a while but the company was able to get the gun back from the gal..........

If that’s not a sign of carelessness, I don’t know what is.

If you do that in the Service, you get a court-martial. He's lucky if all they do is fire his fat lazy lard ass.

And, because he’s most likely a union member, they probably won’t even do that.

Friggin SLOB...and a careless slob to boot! When I make a change of location with my firearm, I always TRIPLE check to make sure it’s there before I walk away. When I use the ladies room...I use the handicap stall because it has the extra rails that I can use to hold my firearm. I don’t take my eyes off my firearm until I have it back on my side...that way, I won’t forget it!

How fortunate it was a CR Tea Party founding member and FOLB that took the pics....hehehe...

Nonetheless, local liberals were howling about photoshop & set-ups....

No mention on the actual discipline meted out - one less donut?

Wonder if he’d so vehemently defend a citizen who had the same thing happen to him.

Wouldn’t bet on it.

Wish they’d just be honest and come out and say this guy has no business being an armed officer and would just remove him from the force. It’s clear he’s a blot on their entire image. More than once.
