The quality of a radio personality's work varies from day to day, good and bad, hit or miss. The better that average, the brighter they burn, the higher they go.

Savage/Wiener (Wiener/Savage?) can be entertaining and informative and has contributed to the national narrative, but at this point, he's a low average hitter, a parachute flare slowly fading and falling.
