There are replicas if you want one of your own. The replicas look better and drive better than the original.
It’s likely that the purchaser worked hard and earned the kind of money that allows him such luxuries. He probably employs hundreds of people and supplies millions in benefits. Thousands, perhaps millions of dollars per year is donated to various charities helping those causes immensely and earning him a nice tax deduction. And because of this person’s success and probable generosity he’s an enemy of the state.
Half of the population is green with envy reading this story saying, “what a waste of money”! “Why didn’t he give that money to the poor, the hungry, the needy”?
B-J had lots of really neat cars last night. Why anyone would give millions for the batmobile is beyond me. Guess it was really an investment.

Now, now. As Batman would say, “ Be a Good citizen.” Lol!
With the stock market for the next four years going flat line people must invest in items that give a return.
When the show premiered, I thought the Batmobile was the greatest thing ever created. But I was also 6yrs old at the time.....
1) Barret used to churn out the most ridiculous vehicles you could never drive.
2) I’m surprised they didn’t destroy the original Batmobile; isn’t that what they do?
3) It’s worth more than a Ferrari or Lamborghini Miura, seriously?
Now we’re talking GTO AND a convertible, oh yeah.
There is a downside. I had a Vette that was before the DOT laws so there wasn’t any protection in the doors in case you got t-boned as fiberglass is useless for that. Fun car, absolutely perfect. Which meant that even the best cars that came out of GM were, to be generous, less than perfect in the 60s.
The GTO might be an exception. I wrenched on a lot of them and they’re well put together, the heater and A/C work and they ride well. OK, so maybe one car had had a frame off restoration but as I mentioned, that only brings it back to the pinnacle of 60’s tech and I’ve wrenched on a lot more than one. I just think GTOs were probably built better as they could share a lot of parts with other models.
I love cars that are almost 17 feet long.
