Happy Birthday and Thank You to John Moses Browning. Born in 1855, he designed some of the greatest American firearms. Many of those designs are still in use today.
Happy Birthday!

As I type this, my 1911 style is sitting at it's normal place on my desk. J.M. Browning is a Great American Hero.

And it was designed and built without any special permission from the government. A golden age, no doubt.

Pretty, yet functional. Thanks for the gun porn.
For a design 102 years old (older actually) that piece of technology still sells well today.

I will be shooting my 1911’s and my M92 levergun today in celebration. The following is a humorous but true writing about the 1911.

In the year 1911 that weapon must have looked like it came from some advanced alien civilization.

Happy Birthday Mr. Browning.
In your day you were considered a genius with your craft by most, nowadays you are demonized and held in contempt by many who find it’s easier to blame someone like you than face the truth on the tools of your trade.

For a design 102 years old (older actually) that piece of technology still sells well today. Amazing ergonomics make it fit/point well in most anyone's hand, and this simple fact still eludes many modern manufacturers to this day, a hundred years later.......and then there is the trigger.

John Moses Browning, who gave individuals the means to resist violent crowds, the oppressed the means to resist oppressors, and armed heroes of freedom for war. Guy ought to be canonized as a saint.

Some of us look at that as a true work of art. It is most certainly one of the finest designs for a tool ever produced by the human mind. Browning had a genius far above his fellows.

A policemen in Ohio has come up with a ‘fix’ for the less than ideal ergonomics of the Glock ... he designed a pop-on beaver tail grip modifier which makes the Glock point more like a 1911. I have them on all my Glocks.

As I type this, my Colt Series 70 .45 Combat Commander is by my side. John Moses Browning was a small arms genius; he held 75 patents and none of them were commercial failures.
The M1911 pistol is 102 years old and is the most copied self-loading handgun on the planet. The venerable “Ma Duce” M2 .50 machine gun remains in production 94 years after Browning's first prototype fired in 1919 and 92 years after adoption by the United States in 1921.
Browning's “improvement” on the M1911 [and his last design before his death in 1926], the famous P35 Browning Hi-Power, remains in production by FN Herstal. The BHP was the world's first high capacity magazine self-loader and was carried by Allies and Axis during WW2.
Happy Birthday, Mr. Browning, your abilities and products continue to serve freedom and justice to this day.

Excuse my ignorance but what is the name / type / model, of the top (Black Ugly /sarc) pistol. Yes I know it's a 45.
Now I have to start saving up, I just love that thing. :-)

Excuse my ignorance but what is the name / type / model, of the top (Black Ugly /sarc) pistol That is a Dan Wesson VBOB (Valor with a bobtail and 4.25" barrel) with the duty coat finish. Awesome pistol, perfect weight and balance. Probably kind of hard to find right now, good luck!

The man was a genius. He started very young, and was allowed to create. Neither his parents, nor the government put stumbling blocks in the way.
I can't imagine another such firearms designer starting the way he did, today.

Don't know if you know anything about John Moses Browning, but it's worth a few minutes of study. He's one of my heros.
