Non violent resistance for gun owners. (And everybody else too!!)

Posted on 01/26/2013 10:09:29 PM PST by djf

Don't like the new laws and restrictions being proposed?

Call your county assessor!!!

TELL HIM YOU ARE NOT GOING TO PAY YOUR PROPERTY TAX!!!

TELL HIM WHY, EXACTLY!!!

IF YOU ARE BRAVE ENOUGH, GO TO THE COUNTY SEAT AND TELL THEM TO THEIR FACES!!!

See they really don't give a single dam about who wins the vote. No matter who wins, they just re-hash the same old crap over and over, it's just different jerks doing the rehashing!

But hit them in their pocketbooks and heads will roll!

This plan works even if you don't own property and live in an apartment, because if you call in anonymously, they don't have a clue who you are...

If you think this is a good idea, email it to folks. Spread it via Twitter or Facebook... whatever floats your boat!

Doesn’t really work when property tax comes and the property taxes are paid.

And if they aren’t paid... well, I’m no expert, but I would think that following this advice could cause you a bit of trouble.

Right.

Just TRY not paying your property taxes - and you will find out who REALLY owns your house.

Stupid idea that will result in the loss of much more than those who are dumb enough to try - are probably willing to risk.

Has anyone ever come across year on year data on income tax evasion prosecution? Not on a dollar amount but a numbee of individuals that got a boot on their neck. I am considering changing my withholdings so I can keep what I earned and make a choice if I feel like reporting my taxes or not. I mean... really... hasn’t everyone had enough?

Oh, that’s right, it’s “patriotic to pay taxes”.

In fact I think it takes a while before they can foreclose for non-payment of taxes. My neighbor got behind something like 3 years before he bit the bullet and paid.

Also, many of the sheriffs in this country have already plainly stated they DO NOT SUPPORT THESE NEW LAWS!
If someone was to foreclose on your property, it isn’t the local dog catcher. It’s THE SHERIFFS!!

But beyond that, to think they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor, considering how many men lost fingers and toes and even worse on the Delaware, my question to you has got to be what the heck are you even doing here on FR?

Really bad clarion call.

Don’t pay your taxes, lose yer property. Simple as that.

Your mileage will vary state to state, county to county. Here in Illinois they have an itchy trigger finger outside of the value-less south and West side of Chicago.

Pledging your lives doesn't mean being stupid. Even the original tea partiers had the good sense to don a disguise. It would be far more to the point to simply not comply with any new gun registration laws, playing dumb and stonewalling as needed, for example.

Why would this have any impact, when the property taxes are local taxes, and most of the gun laws are state and federal? Seems like you’re aiming at the wrong target.

They didn't fight stupidly - which in tactical terms your suggestion reeks.

When the tea was punitively taxed they didn't dump salt in the harbor. Of course in this age of Obamanation, if you do not like that your rent was raised due to rising property taxes, I suppose you could protest by refusing to pay for your food at the grocery store after walking out with it. See where that gets you.

Exactly! Mine has. The one level of government I have almost zero problem with. Why would I want to start a fight with my county when the head LEO of it has declared himself on my side?

I’m not going to incur financial penalties, given my state is not going to go long with the Feds.

That’s why it is called real (”royal”) estate, as it all belongs to the crown.

In my county, in TX, if you don't pay, you will find your property being auctioned off before September..with the exception of Over 65's, and the disabled..

I've paid the taxes on my properties since I was in my 20's.. Being as I'm neither disabled or over 65, what makes you think I want to relocate to a cardboard box under a bridge?

Really bad advice. Every year I fight the fake inflated values they assess on my house and every year I lose. Every year, I call them crooks and thieves to their faces and every year they say have a nice day and take my money anyway. One of these days, I am going to move to a county which robs me less. Having said that, I think your advice is plum loco because I would rather live in my gated community being overtaxed and somewhat irritated then in the state pen sleeping on my back to protect my six.

I live in northwestern Illinois. You have three ears before property sale. In states like Illinois it would be very damaging economically to the state and local governments.

I don't like paying taxes any more than most others, but ...

... our county sheriff and our state legislature will not be supporting any gun bans (that's in Idaho).

Every thing is linked. If I don’t pay the property taxes on my car....when my auto registration from the state comes due, I can’t register my car, until town property taxes are paid.

I’ve mentioned this numerous times on threads about being *off-the-grid* ...it’s a specious thought to believe that the town tax collector doesn’t know who and where you are.

You will get a lien as soon as a past due prop tax bill goes to clerk and masters as late

That lien will screw up everything

I pay quarter mil per year in commercial prop taxes.....and i am late often....they would love to get my stuff and yours too for non payment

Easier to wait for the disturbances sure to come and be ready

Read about tax militias like posse comitatus to see how all this worked for them

Thing is, if I had started a thread saying “They are coming to get your guns RIGHT NOW” there would be 300 replies muttering some kind of BS about “pry them from my cold, dead hands...”

So there ya go.
You have a NON-VIOLENT way of expressing yourself to gummint, about something that most will say they care dearly about, and ALL the responses I hear so far are “Don’t rock the boat! Please!”

What does that say to you? We’re not even as outraged as people when the food stamp machines go down. We’re not as outraged as the muzzies when some dude in Serbia draws a cartoon of Mohammed with a bunny on his head.
