Word For The Day, Thursday, January 31, 2013 – intemerate
dictionaries ad nauseam | 31 January 2013 | Thursday's sub

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

intemerate \in-TEM-er-it\, adjective
Inviolate; undefiled; unsullied; pure.

Example sentences:
The rain smelled cool and earthy, and with her eyes closed it sounded louder and nearer; it seemed to be in the room, falling small and touchless upon her; it was clear, intemerate as the sky.
-- Fred Chappell, The Inkling

Did you know, sir, that I can trace my intemerate ancestry to Adam through the paternal line, and to Eve through the maternal line?
-- Andrew Drummond, Handbook of Volapük

Etymology:
Intemerate comes from the Latin root emerā which meant "to violate, desecrate." The prefix in- means "not" as in the words indefensible and inexpensive.

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

My Aussie responded to hand signals, and enjoyed showing off-she was purchased from a kennel that bred and sold Aussies for AKC shows and herding competitions, and actual work. They used only hand signals for directing their dogs in competitions, claiming it kept the dogs from being distracted in herding trials.

They had a room full of trophies, so there might have been something to that...

No matter how very intemerate
Politicians would like to be
All committed indescretions-
And maybe even two or three

Some are arrogant and callous
And just outrageous to see-
Some are common, and railed at
By people who just don’t agree

They whine, pout and refuse to vote
For anyone with no halo or wings-
With elevated noses, they’ve helped
To make the current mess of things

And we all know at least a few of those people who are so certain of their holiness...

my other concern is that my allergies improved a lot after Peanut found a new home. not sure if it’s really true that bichon frise is hyper-allergenic and all that, but my sinuses are much better. would hate to have to give a dog away if they flare up.

One of my “Moms” called me yesterday, to confirm the Friday appointment for the 9 year old twins music lesson. She gave me a “heads-up” that Chloe, their 15 year old Bichon Frisee, had to be put to sleep after a severe health reversal (She was already blind and deaf, but still managed to get around and was part of the family).

The twins are devastated. Tomorrow is going to be rough.

There is a lot to be said for not being dependent on devices like clickers and food, which are not always accessible, like voice(most of the time) and hand signals. A+ for you. Sunny and cold here, right at freezing.

Thank you!

Just for the hell of it, I taught Husky girl the basic commands in Spanish. She pretty much won’t pay attention to being told what to do in English. She does know the word “dinner”, though...

At times I question whether Missy can see and hear, then she proves she can. Bichons only live till 15 or so, and Missy is already 14. My DH and daughter brought her home from a pet store cage....I didn’t expect her to live this long...we got a healthy one, but now it’s nearing the end.

I empathize so much for them, I wonder if any teaching is going to get done.

Identical twin girls, one on guitar and the other on piano.

The only way I can tell them apart is that one wears braces on her teeth.

Chloe used to wander in during the lessons and let me pat her. I really liked her...She was like a little old white-haired lady in her rhinestone collar and pink ribbons in her hair.

I had a Maltese that lived to be about 17. He had his own leather jacket and rode everywhere with me on my Harley.

That was three dogs ago, but I still have his picture...and his Jacket.

guess it’s a toss-up, the grief is pretty fresh and i bawled for WEEKS, but then again, it might help to have their minds taken off of it too.
