This is the first V-Mail letter from Homers father. It was mailed from Australia. The actual letter is a photocopy of a regular-sized letter written on a form that is then reduced to 4.25 X 5. The scanner now enlarges it to a more readable size, so that works out well. The whereabouts of Harold Merkle becomes a continuing point of discussion through these letters. Surviving family members dont know who he was.
I came upon the article posted below in the March 2, 1943 issue. I know Im not supposed to post stuff out of sequence but this seems to call for an exception to the rule. I will post it again at the proper time - HJS.
