None of the stories about this bake shop ever name the women who complained. It amounts to an anonymous lynching by these women. My bet is that if one had the names of the women one would find they are operatives.
The baker should have just agreed and made them a really atrocious, hidious, nasty cake and said sorry, I don’t understand what could have possibly happened.
Ya’ll come back now, hear?
I would bet this woman CHOSE to pick this baker BECAUSE she wanted to force him to have to accommodate her just to prove she could.
What ever happened to this sign?
WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE TO ANYONE!
No, it does not violate the first amendment; it is a state law and the first amendment lays restriction upon Congress, not the State's legislature. Therein is the hidden evil of 'incorporation', it applies some magic to make the Constitution say what it does not -- amending it without amendment.
It is, however, an invalid law:
OR Constitution
Article I - Section 3. Freedom of religious opinion.
No law shall in any case whatever control the free exercise, and enjoyment of religeous [sic] opinions, or interfere with the rights of conscience.
We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone....
The baker should have defrosted a Sara Lee frozen cake and stuck two cucumbers in it and said here’s your cake that will be $300.00.

Sure, but at least we don't have a Mormon President. /sarc
This is not...nor has it EVER been...about marriage.
This is about putting the legal stamp of approval on the disordered behavior of homosexuality through threats of lawsuits, fines,or loss of employment....destroying any and all that remind them they're not normal!
IIRC, Goldwater predicted this.
Like I’ve been saying, law that supports “homosexual marriage” is designed to persecute those that refuse to service homosexual behavior.
The govt doesn’t belong in the marriage business.
Whatever happened to freedom of association? Did that get canceled?
Bakeries are covered as public accomodations under USC Title 42. As such, service cannot be refused based on race, color, religion, or national origin. I don’t know if this has been amended to include sexual orientation.
Still, even if the law has not been amended, refusal of service to gays is probably actionable - and it would be up to the courts to decide.
I suppose that a bakery could still refuse service and not lose in court - by stating that it no longer will provide ANY wedding cakes to ANYONE, regardless of sexual orientation. But, it could still find itself in court, as above. Not to mention it would be cutting off its nose to spite its face [profit-wise] by doing so ...
Oregon passed a hard-fought battle for a marriage amendment to their constitution. So, the immoral barbarians do end-runs to get at people of moral conscience in other ways, like “anti-discrimination” laws.
The govt doesnt belong in the marriage business.
Um..., even if the government were not "in the marriage business" the supposed anti-discrimination law would still be pressed by these sodomites. This has nothing to do with "marriage." Besides, Oregon already defines marriage as a man/woman institution in their Constitution, so these dykes are living in la-la land.
I have a better idea. Let's work to rescind the Civil Rights Act and have it declared unconstitutional. THAT is what is being used to strip us of our freedoms.
Oregon prohibits same sex marriage by statute. How is the baker wrong?
The practical solution is to mess up the order without saying anything directly.
Better still, change the government. This one is no good.
