Home of the grizzly: Photographer's stunning images capture beauty of America and Canada's real bear country, where man takes second place
The continuing fight for life of North America's bears has been captured in spectacular style in a series of dramatic pictures.
Grizzly, polar and black bears are pictured in the wilds of Alaska scavenging in bins, stripping a whale carcass and scrapping over the best fishing spots.
Photographer Steven Kazlowski has spent the past 15 years living in bear country and capturing the most intimate, hilarious and adrenaline-fuelled moments of his furry subjects.
The series by the 43-year-old also features the more fun side of the creatures.
Cubs are seen play fighting, scrapping over food and cuddling up together.

Yeah. I recall another 'nature-lover' who wanted to prove how we can peacefully coexist with grizzlies... and then one ate him and his girlfriend for a midnight snack.
Grizzly Bears...the gentle hosts of the friendly forest.
I was working on a Trail Crew for the US Forest Service clearing trail on the CC Divide. I came upon a tree across the trail where some Huckleberry bushes had grown up. I set the chainsaw down to start it. I gave it a pull and the Huckleberry bushes exploded! A bear came boiling out. I did what all Forest Service employees are taught not to do when encountering a bear, and ran screaming down the trail. Fortunately, the bear went the opposite direction. I made it down to where the other “Trail Ape” was working. I told him what had happened. He asked me if the chainsaw was OK. I thought that was a silly question, but when we got back up to where the fallen tree was, the chainsaw was gone. A week later, it turned up in a pawn shop in Kalispell. The bear pawned it to buy some smokes. I’m glad I didn’t drop the pickup keys.

Noticed under one pic of a polar bear that their numbers are dwindling due to losing the polar ice, but then they show one picture of a family of three. Hmmmm.
