'A Good Day to Die Hard' review: Yippee-ki-whatever (1/2 star)
Red Eye Chicago ^ | 02/13/13 | Matt Pais

Well before John McClane (Bruce Willis) calls his CIA operative son Jack (Jai Courtney) "007 of Plainfield, New Jersey," "A Good Day to Die Hard" already feels more like a Bond movie ("Die-monds Are Forever"?) than what it is, "Die Hard 5."

Or is it "Terminator" or "Taken" or ...? Following the example set by the moronic "Live Free or Die Hard"--which only got worse by casting Justin Long as the personification of a yippy dog--"A Good Day to Die Hard" now depicts formerly relatable cop McClane as an indestructible force. He survives the unsurvivable and smells trouble before there's any in the air. He's never surprised and never shaken, even when he flies to Moscow to rescue his son and lands in the middle of a shootout/car chase. Eh, just another day for the man who always saves it.

It’s just a fun movie.

My Valentine’s Day gift from my husband - so excited.
(Really disappointed he wont take me to the 11pm showing tonight)

Media panning it means that I’ll probably want to see it.

Bruce Willis is going to lose credibility with the leftist Hollywood machine for being anti-gun, but it’s for that reason and many others that I find Willis classier with age. I’ll never get tired of his cowboy-ish Die Hard movies, and this one will probably live up to all my expectations.

We knew when they dropped it in a February opening there would be issues. But I’ll still see it.

Maybe I'm dumb, but this phrase doesn't add up for me.

Maybe Bruce meant North Plainfield, NJ... I don’t think there are any White people in Plainfield.

A tale of two households.

I, otoh, have promised my bride I will take her to see "Safe Haven" for Valentine's Day. I think you got the better deal.

I grew up in Plainfield in the Fifties. Different town then . Now it looks like a Dominican slum.

I like Bruce Willis but, just like Sly, he’s resurrecting this character to get a paycheck. There is a time to let characters fade off into the sunset.

Let’s guess, the author is a gun control advocate and is mad at Bruce for stating obvious truths.

I’ll bet you’re right. He probably DVR’d Barry’s State of the Union Show last night so he can watch it over and over again.

It's not the entire media panning it. It's just one critic.

While I'm interested in the analysis of some critics, I try not to let them influence my decision on whether or not to see a movie.

"Following the example set by the moronic "Live Free or Die Hard"--"

No need to read any further. The last Die Hard was as good as the rest of them.

Looking forward to the new one.

I hate to tell you, but your marriages are failing.

Now Mrs. Lucky is a girl worth keeping. She's getting me a Blue Tick Coonhound for Valentine's day.
