Ah, the vanishing sights and sound of freedom.
Great vid
Love how things never change
the skull and crossbones on pilot’s helmet could have been from WWII and certainly Nam
thanks for posting
It’s not that exciting if you live under the cats or arresting gear...
I love it.
Hahahaha...my berthing space was right under the wires...when the planes were coming in to land, I could hear them before they landed...a faint, very faint whine, getting louder and louder until WHAM!
The the sound of the arresting gear playing out, followed by the sound of it retracting...scraping over the deck as it comes back, then the “click....click..click.click” at it stops moving on top of the metal things that hold the cables a few inches off the deck.
Never got old.
No, wait...what am I saying....?
The F-18 is the BEST all-around best fighter jet ever produced, IMO. Still being ‘modded’ and reliable as heck!
The music isn’t particularly ‘loud’. It has built-in distortion to make it sound ‘loud’. An idiotic idea thanks to the idiot Beatles.
F/A-18 (BUGS) are for WUSSIES REAL MEN fly F-14s/F-4s/F-8s/A-6s!
What CV?
Heya shipmate...most of my time with attached airwing aboard the Kennedy.
Spent some time on the Eisenhower when she first hit the fleet, a few weeks on the Roosevelt, and an extremely uncomfortable week on the Lexington.
How about you?

I was on the New Orleans (LPH-11) from ‘76 to ‘79. I was a Purple Shirt on the flight deck. When were you aboard?
