What has caused me to frequent Walmart less is a combination of:
* More self-scan checkouts and fewer human checkers; but if I have a cart full of food to take home, I don’t want to scan and bag, too
* Aldi’s and Trader Joe’s are cheaper, and both are opening around me. If I have to bag my own, I’ll go where it actually saves me money.
* Low prices don’t mean as much if the deals are out of stock, often an issue at the local Walmart.

So, let's try to put this gun issue in perspective. It depends on what state you live in as to whether Walmart doesn't sell guns. In my area of CA for instance(a small conservative county)the one and only Walmart store available(unless you elect to drive 45-50 miles to get to another one)no longer sells guns, and that includes black powder. They used to sell them up until about 7 or 8 years ago and then they abruptly stopped. They sell air rifles and but no guns and no ammo, in fact they won't sell .22 caliber pelets for .22 cal air guns because that is too close to "real amunition", what ever the hell that means(I do know but thought I would be sarcastic.

However, I am aware that other Walmarts, especially in other states, do sell firearms and ammo, in fact I can order them online from Walmart, the guns have to be shipped to an FFL holder per CA law but the ammo comes directly here. I usually buy ammo on line from Midway or Cheaper than dirt and not from Wally world.

Post 62, correction of typo “real amunition” should be “real ammunition”. Sorry.

There seems to be be a massive disconnect between corporate policy and individual stores. The Walmart stores in DE suddenly stopped selling ammo because they don’t sell guns (store answer). A corporate CS rep told me that they are not going to sell any more ammo because of what happened in CT. Yet, there are reports that some stores are continuing to get new ammo shipments and selling ammo.

What gives? I personally won’t shop at Walmart until they stop with the politics.

You don’t think the “People of Walmart” hasn’t gone viral? I have gotten dozens of emails with PoW, all from conservatives who happen to shop at WalMart.

How do you think FReeper chickensoup is ‘serv[ing] the left well’ by clarifying what s/he meant by “people of Walmart?” that FReeper Fightin’ Whitey didn’t seem to understand?

Sure it has gone viral, we even see people promoting it on FR, and heavily.

It has zero use as information because it supplies none, but as a piece of propaganda it is brilliant, of course it could be done for any store or most other things, but it gives the anti-Walmart people something concrete appearing to post and link to, or refer to in their anti-Walmart posts.

Over and over here at FR, and on this thread for example, we see the attempt to create the impression that Walmart shoppers are unique, different, other, inferior, less bright, less attractive, the same thing that the left does with Fox News watchers, and talk radio, gun ownership, Christianity, patriotism and such, even with the kind of people who post at FR instead of at DU.

Why Walmart?, why not the lefty stores, the union stores, the anti-gun store?

I suppose we could find some ever-so-hip store on the Upper West Side and show its chic clientele snorting cocaine. Pick pretty much any tore.

Walmart, at least those currently at it’s helm, have forgotten that any purchase must have value or the amount spent on the item is wasted money. What good is produce at the lowest price and you have to toss half of it out because it’s bruised, rotten and inedible? I would rather spend a little more on foodstuffs that are of good quality and don’t require half of the just purchased goods to be tossed out. What good is a $15 pair of pants(just used as comparison) that falls apart after a few washings and wearings? I would rather spend $20 or $25 and get a pair that is better made and will last. I remember growing up, the ‘Made in China’ label was the last thing any kid wanted to see on either their clothes or toys. Chinese stuff was and still is junk.

Good work, man! So you’ve been going there to Walmart late every night since 2007 to watch them stock meat? The proletariat thanks you for your sacrifice!

No I shop very late at most stores I go to when doing major shopping. No crowds, no noise, and I can concentrate. One night I did see them stocking the meat department and it was from Tyson marked boxes. Is it a crime now to shop after midnight?

“First off, income tax refunds are later this year, making same day sales from a year ago skewed.”

I e-filed (H&R Block) on Friday the 8th. I had my refunds (State and Federal) direct-deposited by the evening of Thursday the 14th. A record for me, I believe.

Probably because of the tax increases in everyone’s paycheck.

Wal-Mart reports a sales peak now at 12:01 am when millions of foodstampers have their EBT cards reloaded. Don't get in the way of a hungry hippo.

LOL. My wife and I both are disabled and shop at night when the store isn’t crowded. She doesn’t have persons slaming carts into her wheelchair and blocking her in aisles and I can concentrate on task at hand in a quieter store. We pay cash for our purchases BTW. Or rather we use our checking account bank card. At 12:01 no sales are going on in Walmart. Walmart cash registers shut down roughly about 5 minutes as that is when their business day ends and the system does it’s sales totals.

Heck, the Walmart in Bradenton, FL has a separate display case FULL of AR-type rifles in addition to the one with hunting guns.

Still? Everyone else is out of stock.

Why are you anti-Walmart people striving so hard to portray those of us who prefer Walmart, America’s most popular store, a pro-gun store, an anti-union store, inferior to you who shop mostly at the lefty stores exclusively?

Only the left could could come up with the strategy to mock the people who shop at the top grocery store in America, it is illogical, but I understand that it works in general, like hammering Rubio for drinking water.

I don’t buy my produce at Walmart because it is too expensive, but it is high quality, surpassing my local Albertson’s where the prices are astronomical, I buy my vegetables at a Middle Eastern market where the prices are cheap, but with lower grade produce.

I buy my jeans at Walmart, the auto batteries are good there, I love most of their food prices and can stock up at a half to a third of many of the prices at Albertson’s on the same brands.

Not everything made in China is low quality, if you ever get into high quality flashlights for instance, you will be buying Chinese.

All stores sell the same stuff in most cases, from the same countries.

I shop at Wal-Mart, though I dread their terrible stocking reliability. I'm making fun of the foodstampers that are obese. It's a strange property of food that it tastes much better when someone else pays for it.

The leftist assault on salt isn't because salt is bad for most people, but because it makes food taste good so they enjoy more of it. Leftists envy people enjoying anything more than them. Rather than banning salt we need to make food not free. Because of modern farm technology, adjusted for inflation food has never been cheaper. Why are taxpayers increasingly paying for other people's obesity other than to help Democrats cheaply buy votes and destroy lives?

Foodstampers shop every where, not only at the pro-gun, anti-union store that the left hates.
