China's official media coverage of Ang Lee's Oscar acceptance at the 85th Academy Awards has omitted the part where the Taiwan-born director thanked his homeland, reports our Chinese-language sister newspaper China Times.

Lee, who picked up his second best director Oscar for Life of Pi, which bagged four awards this year, made sure to thank Taiwan as well as the west-central city of Taichung in his speech.

"I cannot make this movie without the help of Taiwan. We shot there. I want to thank everyone there [that] helped us, especially the city of Taichung," Lee said.

This part of the speech was — intentionally or not — left out of reports about Lee's win from China's official Xinhua news agency, even though it did praise Lee for defeating the other nominees, including favorite Steven Spielberg. The part about Taiwan was also not mentioned on Xinhua's official microblog page on Sina Weibo, though the speech was presented in full on the "Taiwan Channel" of Xinhua's website.

In addition to the best director, Life of Pi also snapped up golden statuettes for best original score, cinematography and visual effects, though the film missed out on best picture to Ben Affleck's Argo.

I'll have an Oscar with that: Ang Lee burger photo goes viral

A photo of Academy Award-winning director Ang Lee eating an In-N-Out Burger with his Oscar statuette in hand has gone viral on the internet, reports our Chinese-language sister newspaper China Times.

The Taiwan-born Lee, who won his second best director Oscar for Life of Pi in Los Angeles this week, was snapped after the award ceremony biting the fast food burger in his right hand while holding on to the golden statuette in the other.

Lee had allegedly skipped all the post-Oscar parties with other Hollywood celebrities as he just wanted to relax after posing for pictures and giving interviews all evening.

"Thank you, movie god," Lee said in his acceptance speech, during which he also thanked his 3,000-member crew, Canadian novelist Yann Martel, who wrote the novel upon which the film was based, and his wife, Jane Lin. Life of Pi also grabbed the Oscars for best original score, cinematography and visual effects, but lost out on best picture to Argo.

Lee's humility and his love of burgers have won him much praise on the internet. "Celebrating his honor with a burger. He's just too cute," said a netizen.

In-N-Out Burger is a American chain of fast food restaurants with locations in California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah and Texas. It is not clear from the photo what type of burger Lee was having.

In-N-Out Burgers are pretty good as fast food goes.
