TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The forced federal budget cuts have forced cancellation of a special concert at Washburn Rural High School.
The school says it was informed Wednesday by the Navy Sea Chanters chorus that it cannot travel and keep its performance dates due to sequestration.
The event was set for Saturday. There was no word on the possibility of rescheduling.

I Googled this group...as far as I can tell, they are active duty. So, the only 'cost' associated with them is travel and lodging (active duty already get a meal ration, which is not paid when 'in the field', so the military can feed you...so there shouldn't even be a cost to eat).
Their tour schedule is here:

Looking at it, this is clearly a bus tour. It probably took more dollars to fly them back to base, than it would have to continue their tour.
I don't know what it costs to fund this operation; but, it can't be alot. It is an unneccessary expense...so I'm not bent out of shape because the tour has been grounded....but why on earth is the cancellation of a concert in a high school auditorium considered newsworthy? If they had cancelled because the singers were sick, there would not have been a story. It is only newsworthy because it pushes an agenda...and more and more the local media are willing stooges.
Barry “make it hurt” Odungo is just getting started
wow, sounds like a crisis !!
our warfighting machine wont be giving chorale concerts at Washburn High School.
doesnt get any worse than that.
in other news....Moochele and the girls plan their spring break.....with all their free loading friends.....
For all of you who missed Tom Sowell’s column on “Budget Politics”:
“Back in my teaching days, many years ago, one of the things I liked to ask the class to consider was this: Imagine a government agency with only two tasks: (1) building statues of Benedict Arnold and (2) providing life-saving medications to children. If this agency’s budget were cut, what would it do?
The answer, of course, is that it would cut back on the medications for children. Why? Because that would be what was most likely to get the budget cuts restored. If they cut back on building statues of Benedict Arnold, people might ask why they were building statues of Benedict Arnold in the first place.
The example was deliberately extreme as an illustration. But, in the real world, the same general pattern can be seen in local, state and national government responses to budget cuts.”
So, where will the Obamas be going on Spring Break and will they all take separate planes?
It is BS!
Jeez....I'm a'skeerd. LOL.

Just like Nigeria, and other Third World Hellholes--the citizenry are impoverished and marginalized while the ensconced dictator, and his chosen few, bask in luxury.
The Obama's sure aren't suffering from sequester---golging, skiing, vacay-ing. The O's teen daughter was spotted at Buddakhan---a pricey NYC restaurtant---scoffing up rock shrimp, edamame dumplings, short ribs, lobster fried rice........replete w/ five Secret Service guards dining nearby.

Good, the USN needs sailors to man the ships on the seven seas, not ton have a chorus to sing at a high school.
The ships aren't deploying either. This means we've got a bunch of sailors sitting around their workspaces playing spades. Maybe they could go sing at high schools?
I think it is more like a bunch of sailors that get a chance for more liberty and time with their families.
Tell me about it! My wife is getting awfully spoiled with the 3 and 4-day weekends I have been enjoying with greater frequency these days. I've managed to make a lot of progress whittling down the "honey do" list as well.
I try to tell myself to enjoy it while it lasts because one of these days I'm going to actually have to be a sailor again but it's getting hard when all my underway periods keep getting cancelled one after the other.
He did.
LOL! Thanks! Now that’s funny.
These band members cannot man ships. If it’s like any other service singing is their only job. the bands are part of the morale group and they also are used for advertising and recruitment. Most recruits come out of high school. The band shows a different side of military life.
The really bad part about all this, is that the traffic in Tidewater gets worse when there’s a lot of ships in.
