I don’t think it will come to that, for the simple reason that it would not remain “rebels v tanks”. It would spiral into “rebels v anybody who works for or is seen as supporting the government”.

I was thinking improvised shaped charges with solid copper embedded for penetration.

Not that I have any experience or actual knowledge other than what I’ve gathered from watching documentaries about demolition work.

I was thinking improvised shaped charges with solid copper embedded for penetration.

IIRC, 25% of casualties in Afgahnastan are from IED's.

What are those bricks covering the tanks? Isn’t that reactive armor? What about Molotov cocktails?

I think I’ll just shut up now before I get a visit from large men in cheap suits with no sense of humor.

I learned: Don’t engage tanks.

If it ever comes to tanks in the streets, do something else.

EFP.
Explosively Formed Projectile.

Not hard to make and quite effective, especially in an urban environment.

Just sayin’.

Can’t imagine why I ever tucked this one away, but.../s
Lure them into “traps”. They are dependent on specific terrains. Get them off it. “Where they meet the ground” is where they are vulnerable. They can’t deal with close elevation problems. (Treads don’t like barb wire, second story windows and Molotov cocktails are good things to remember).

Ammonia poured into the air intakes?

Tanks are blind to their front and that is where their weakest armor is. The best way to destroy a tank is to walk straight at the front of it while firing your rifle at it.
