HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Parents of a 12-year-old girl were arrested Friday after allegedly arranging two abortions for the girl within 15 days, West Virginia State Police say.
Michael and Amanda Adkins of Cabell County were indicted this week by a grand jury on charges of child neglect causing the risk of injury.
State Police and Child Protective Services (CPS) workers were brought in on the case last year after a doctor first reported the pregnancy.
But troopers say the Adkinses -- unbeknownst to anyone in on the investigation -- arranged for a private abortion at a clinic in Charleston. Then, 15 days later, they went back to the first doctor and reported symptoms of miscarriage.

Even as a pro-life conservative I’m not really sure what the crime is here. If my 12-year old daughter got pregnant and I was pro-choice wouldn’t I do this anyhow?
Did the police expect the child to carry to term? Is the second procedure the issue here? Is there a state law there that I don’t know?

A 12 year old being pregnant is indicative of child rape and abuse. I’m sure that the abortion is secondary to her being molested.

Shouldn’t there be some testing for DNA, etc., BEFORE the arrest? If she were promiscuous with, say a 14 year-old, then you’ve embarrassed parents who already are embarrassed to have a pregnant 12-year old daughter. Seems like the police should have offered more to the press or the press should have held back on the story until more info was known.
The kid was being sexually abused and the parents did not report it to the police as required by law. You have to report child sexual abuse to the police...unless you are a Catholic Cardnial and your name is Law or a planned parenthood perv employee.

Health Care workers including abortion clinic personnel are required to report but often don’t as these pervs can be real good REPEAT business for them. The parents tried to obtain an abortion and when the police were notified tried to hide evidence by going to a second clinic that hopefully wouldn’t report anything and work fast.. If there wasn’t anything to hide the police would have interviewed the child , allowed the abortion to proceed and possibly collected the dead baby for DNA evidence.

Good job, abortions cover up child abuse. Many victims have come forward claiming that their pregnancy would have alerted adults, and prevented continual sexual abuse of themselves and sisters in the family.
