Collier County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 28-year-old Thomas Flipse II, of Jacksonville, just before 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, after he allegedly flooded three stories of a Hampton Inn, while intoxicated.
Twenty-two rooms of the hotel, located at 2630 Northbrooke Plaza Dr., sustained damage after Flipse broke the on/off valves to the pipes behind the shower in his room. Several rooms had standing water one-inch deep.
Deputies received a call from firefighters and EMS in response to a "belligerent patient," and were also informed that three floors of the hotel were flooding. Upon arrival, they immediately saw water dripping from ceiling in the first floor of the hotel and standing water on the carpet in the hallway. A large amount of water was coming from Flipse' room.
The suspect was found in the bathroom, yelling and swearing. He became confrontational and was secured in handcuffs. He was taken out of the hotel on a stretcher, yelling all the way.
Deputies discovered water coming from the shower, and a hole in the bathroom wall near the toilet. The shower's ceramic shell was broken and cracked in several places. It was eventually discovered that all of the water flooding the hotel was coming from the wall behind the shower. The water was shut off.
Witnesses say Flipse was intoxicated and involved in a verbal altercation. Deputies found alcohol and marijuana in his room.
Seventeen of the 22 damaged rooms had guests in them who had to be relocated to nearby hotels. The water also damaged newly arrived linens in the laundry room, totalling $16,000. The total cost of repairs is expected to exceed $100,000.
Flipse was arrested and charged with criminal mischief and disturbing the peace.

I hope he has stupid insurance. He is going to have a heck of a lawsuit and some big bills to pay.
I hope the fool is docked for the damage.
OoooWeee, that credit card is going to have a big fat nasty charge on it next month.
If he has no “stupid” insurance, his appearance would lead me to suspect that he will never earn enough to feed himself let alone pay any bills. In fact from appearances, we will likely be feeding him during his incarceration.

This guy is a drunk moron but the hotel workers have to be pretty stupid too if they let it get to the point of one inch of water in rooms on three floors. What the Hell did they do? Sit there and watch it until the water ran out?

He might be docked, but he’ll never pay. More likely, he’ll soon be receiving some type of goverment benefits, if he’s not already.

I’ve known the Flipse Family(Medical Doctors mostly) since 1947 and have worked for some of them in the 50s.

Dr. Thomas Flipse, MD’s Grandfather was my mother’s doctor when she had cancer in 1958, till her death on 09/11/1991.
