On the afternoon of March 17, 1943 two US Navy motor torpedo boats, PT-67 and PT-119, were refueling at the forward PT-Boat base at Tufi, New Guinea when a fire started onboard the PT-119. It quickly grew out of control and spread to the PT-67 before that boat could be cut away. Both boats were quickly gutted by the flames and completely destroyed.

I imagine this event was followed by a very awkward discussion between the CO of PT-119 and his squadron commander.
