Chrysler has announced the recall of select model year 2013 Dodge Challengers due to a fire risk and is advising all owners to refrain from driving.

Affected by Sunday’s recall are 4,459 model year 2013 Dodge Challenger performance vehicles equipped with V6 engines over an electrical issue that may lead to a fire. Specifically, certain wire harnesses may short circuit, which may cause overheating and/or a fire. … The recall does not include Dodge Challengers equipped with V8 engines. …

Due to the severity of the recall, Chrysler is currently reaching out to Dodge Challenger owners by phone and mail to tell them not to drive their cars until the problem is remedied. Furthermore, Chrysler is urging owners not to park their cars in garages or near other structures in case they catch on fire. The automaker will provide owners with loaner cars, free of charge, while repairs are being completed. …

First it was the 2012 models with leaking gas tanks and now electrical fires? Can't you just hear the Chinese complaining about American made cars now?

The only Six Cylinder “performance vehicle” out there goes by the name PORSCHE. Any others are pretenders.

Are the Chrysler workers back to drinking and smoking pot on their lunch breaks?

“Are the Chrysler workers back to drinking and smoking pot on their lunch breaks?’

Thats exactly what I was thinking. I understand that most if not all of those caught eventually got their jobs back. I wouldn’t own a mopar unless it was old 70s muscle.

I happen to be getting one of these cars, used, not a 2013 model.

The 3.6l V6 in the Challenger gets 305 HP. That’s as much as the 383 V8 with a 2 barrel carb from the old days. That’s nothing to sneeze at considering the car, despite it’s weight, can get over 30 mpg on the highway.

This does not appear to be a problem with the assembly labor.

According to spokesman Eric Mayne, the defect is the result of a single batch of misconfigured electrical components and not necessarily the wiring harness specifically. Chrysler has yet to identify the particular part, but did indicate that certain wire harnesses caught fire when workers attempting to reconfigure the parts. So far there have been seven incidents of the problem, but no injuries.

I have a 2011 Mustang myself. It is almost as fast as my 99 Mustang Cobra was, but it runs on Regular and gets 24 around town (if I behave) and over 30 on the highway.

That being said, it ain’t no Performance Car. The 911 Porsche and the Corvette I owned way back when were Performance Cars.

Yeah, I thought about that when I Posted, but then I would have had to say Vipers, Shelby's, Ferrari's, Lambo's, you get the drift.

I have probably seen one or two GTR’s on the road in the past few years.

I'm in S. CA, and Porsche's are a common site, not so much specialty Vehicles like those I listed above.

Besides, I used to own a Porsche and you know the old Joke about the difference between a Porsche and a Porcupine, right? LOL
