After winning $1 million, would you share it with a coworker you barely knew?
A group of 12 workers at Keller Williams Partner Realty in Plantation are doing exactly that.
Jennifer Maldonado had only been working as an administrative assistant for the company for two weeks, and she hadnt even received her first pay check.
Laurie Finkelstein Reader, a Realtor and head of the team in that office, was going around collecting $20 from each of her colleagues to spend on Powerball tickets. The jackpot for Saturday nights drawing was $338 million, and Finkelstein Reader, who occasionally plays, had a lucky feeling.
But Maldonado opted out.
I hadnt gotten a paycheck and I was watching my pennies, said Maldonado.
Finkelstein Reader offered to lend her the money, but Maldonado said no.

Its nice to read this when most of the time, we’re reading about someone screwing someone over or cheating someone out of their share of something. It all comes back to values.
Our representative Republic was to be represented by moral and honest men, representing moral and honest people.
I've decided also that the Biblical "As a man thinketh, so is he .. "was a major element in the psychological make-up of our earlier generations.
What I'm getting at is; These ladies exhibited a taste of that morality (imo) of being part of a "community" and that there was one in their midst that was just as good/equal/moral (whatever) and that for whatever reason couldn't or wouldn't 'contribute for a common cause'.
It didn't matter to them ... you're a member of our ___________ and you're part of us.
THAT'S the thought I had when I read this.
Dear ladies ... PLEASE reproduce !
A wonderful story. More of this type of Christian type actions and our country would be incredible again.
Very nice! Of course Obama, also a non-participant, will also get his miliions for golf trips, etc.
And, don’t forget princess malia and princess sasha and their grand spring break to the Atlantis Resort in Nassau. Share the wealth.
When we first started our office pools (two bucks a head, whenever the payout was over 35 mil) some years ago, I offered to throw in one extra dollar to provide a half-share for those who missed getting in that week if we won. The organizers declined, due to the potential for lawsuits and subsequently published written pool rules; got to be in it to win it.
That is on the parents, not the kids.
I think they are well entrenched in their new found (well 4 years of it)wealth and “fame”. Yeah, it is king hussein and queen moochelle antoinette who are responsible but the kids observe and act like they are, uh, well, entitled now too. I guess if I wanted to take those kinds of vacations I’d run for president. Sadly, I’ve been told I have common sense thus disqualifying me for the office. Oh, and I love the USA.
According to the wildest luck did they get a batch of tickets that had the winner: **Finkelstein Reader said she never would have had the winning ticket if the clerk hadnt made a mistake.
The clerk, who spoke only Spanish, didnt understand Finkelstein Reader wanted 120 tickets. She thought she wanted $120 worth of tickets. The tickets sell for $2 each.
So the clerk printed half the tickets.
As Finkelstein Reader tried explaining she wanted 120 tickets, a line formed behind her.
People began to yell and one impatient man skipped to another line and purchased a bunch of tickets.
Finally, Finkelstein Reader was able to get her second batch after the man whod cut in front of her got his.
The winner was in the second batch.
We wouldnt have won if it wasnt for that, said Finkelstein Reader.
The group is going to pick up their winnings Wednesday.**
“...princess malia and princess sasha...”
grifter kids in-training, Malaysia and Saskatchewan
There’s got to be some good Karma in their futures.
I homeschooled my daughter with the Finkelstein Reader.
I’d like to know the names of all these friends’ parents. They’re also living it up on our dime.
