David Rose of the Mail on Sunday is having a go at the Committee on Climate Change for their denial of the points raised in his article last week and this graph, which was sourced from NCAR and used in the Economist article noted on WUWT.
Rather stubborn, these blokes.
Excerpt:
The official watchdog that advises the Government on greenhouse gas emissions targets has launched an astonishing attack on The Mail on Sunday for accurately reporting that alarming predictions of global warming are wrong.
We disclosed that although highly influential computer models are still estimating huge rises in world temperatures, there has been no statistically significant increase for more than 16 years.
Despite our revelation earlier this month, backed up by a scientifically researched graph, the Committee on Climate Change still clings to flawed predictions.
Leading the attack is committee member Sir Brian Hoskins, who is also director of the Grantham Institute for Climate Change at Imperial College, London. In a blog on the Committee on Climate Changes website, Sir Brian insisted: The scientific basis for significant long-term climate risks remains robust, despite the points raised . . . Early and deep cuts in emissions are still required.
He also claimed our report misunderstood the value of computer models. Yet in an interview three years ago, Sir Brian conceded that when he started out as a climate scientist, the models were pretty lousy, and theyre still pretty lousy, really.
Our graph earlier this month was reproduced from a version first drawn by Dr Ed Hawkins, of the National Centre for Atmospheric Science. Last week it was reprinted as part of a four-page report in The Economist.
Twenty-year hiatus in rising temperatures has climate scientists puzzled

The fact that global surface temperatures have not followed the expected global warming pattern is now widely accepted.
fyi
David Rose hasn’t been patient enough to wait for Jones et al at UEA and Hansen at NASA to accomplish their next round of historical temperature adjjustments to make the graph appear to be more consistent with the predicted Global Warming.
Once again, the question should be raised.
Were these just legitimate scientific disagreements, where one side eventually prevails, this would be ordinary and normal. However, one side has profited immensely from not just promulgating its beliefs, but in maintaining them in spite of the contrary evidence.
This strongly suggests that there has been some criminal, or near criminal activity involved in the promulgation of these theories, that has both impacted both the public well being and its purse.
If this is just near-criminal impropriety, those involved in the farce should be dismissed from any further government employ, after what they promulgated in the law has been reversed. If it has indeed crossed the line to criminal affront, they should suffer concomitant criminal penalties for their intentional wrongdoing.
Its nice to see more scientist coming forth and taking a careful look at what the AGW crowd for so long have st forth.
So what is happening here is happening as well on Mars, so doesn’t that suggest things are beyond the scope of man and man made climate politics?
I promise the planet will be here long after man is gone.
It’s only a two-tailed 95% confidence interval. The singled interval (the one that counts for verifying global warming) is 97.5%. In other words, if global warming as bad or worst than they claimed, there is only one chance in 40 (2.5%) that we would be observing the actual temperatures we are seeing today.
This is not even weak validation, it is strong refutation.
They are stuck. By claiming the science was settled, they have no where to run. One of the dumbest groups of people this planet has ever produced. They do not have much of an ability to think ahead.
The second group of the planets dumbest people, are the morons who decided running nuclear plants that required external power to prevent a meltdown, was a workable idea. They also lack the ability to think ahead.
And of course they were/are big in electrical generation.
