It’s in the humor section. I thought it was humorous and well done.

The average Obama voter would be terrorized by this report.

If the farmer were a minority member of society, there would be a bunch of progressives in the west wing offering this guy a bailout as we laugh.

I meant that piece of doggerel humorously also.

My mom used to say it when I tried to trick her.

Sorry, but marshmallow crops are real. The common marsh mallow,Altheas officinalis, is an African plant, raised in Egypt since ancient times to make fluffy, sweet, medicinal confections with. Modern, American marshmallows no longer contain marsh mallow plants in any form, much the same way as there are no longer truffle fungi in truffle candies. But for millennia, an eggwhite meringue was made out of marsh mallows.

The marsh mallow roots, formerly used in making the eggwhite meringue now known as marshmallow:

Marshmallow flowers:

Hope you found this trivia as interesting as I did when I first learned of it.

Dept of Agriculture should probably get him a farmer subsidy.

If the USDA is as good at their job as Obama is at his, they will probably ask for a soil sample.

I was going to say something similar. If this farmer is smart, he'll lobby to have the government pay him to not plant marshmellows. This will help control the market price for other marshmellow farmers.

The first April Fools hoax of this kind was in 1957, by the BBC, about the “spaghetti trees” of southern Switzerland.

Hope you found this trivia as interesting as I did when I first learned of it.

For what it's worth, I do, but I come from a family who identify themselves as KOOKS or Keepers Of the Odd Knowledge. :-)

I found out about the origins of the marsh-mallow years ago, along with the origins of 'root' beer.

---

This makes total sense, just not something that registered, I guess....and I'm VERY glad it's no longer the case:

much the same way as there are no longer truffle fungi in truffle candies

I love today's truffles, but BLECH!, I hate mushrooms. LOL!
