guys:
the story is kind of BS, he didn't build a DNA machine that tested for anything.
he built whats called a “cycler” it is basically alternate heating a solution along with the sample. the two interact in cycles and amplify the DNA sample.
he commercially bought the solution, and then sent the amplifies sample to the lab for DNA sequencing, and got a commercial report back,
so sure, its something but its hardly DNA detection.
in the commercial lab its process called PCR, and its very common and not hard to do.
