My favorite is probably the time machine, where Ca.lvin dumps the duty of writing an essay on future Calvin about four hours. In the future.

Psssh. These people thought they had problems because their son had a tiger? My son had a small green Tyrannosaurus Rex. This monster was responsible for all the messes, problems, breaks, bad smells, and disasters in our house.

Sometimes, like Calvin, my boy would transmogrify into his favorite animal--a red T. Rex. Then he wouldn't speak for days; he would just roar, fold his tiny arms up to his enormous chest, and bite his big sister. He kept suggesting that I find a nice male T. Rex to marry, preferably a blue one. What cool stepfather that would be, eh?

He is a US Marine now, but the little green T. Rex is still in the corner of his bedroom closet, waiting for him to come home.

OK, fine, now I have to go wipe my eyes.
