She probably had claustrophobia and felt safe in that small room - as long as she sat there she thought she was safe. She probably had him keep the door closed, too, to be safer.
When you get tense or upset, how many of you go to the bathroom and shut the door? That blocks the world outside and no one can get to you.
I once psychologically tested a lady who sat curled up in a corner of her bed with a potty right next to the bed and she never left that spot. She was afraid of men and also had a gun by her on the bed all the time. She was too afraid to leave that spot.
I once psychologically tested a lady who was afraid of leaving her house every day after she got home from work. She kept every door locked and shades pulled down at every window, making sure they were locked. She never looked out of a window. She was also afraid in her car, thinking someone was following her.
