In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

mens rea (MENZ REE-uh) noun
Criminal intent.

Example sentence:
"She appealed against her conviction on the basis that she did not have the required mens rea, in that she was not aware she was carrying drugs."
--Minimum 10-Year Drug Term Reduced for 'Naive' Offender; Irish Times (Dublin); Jan 16, 2012.

Etymology:
From Latin mens rea (guilty mind). Earliest documented use: 1861.

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

That’s Murkowski, when your fingers are on the right keys.

She’ll always be Leena Mukroosky to me, like she was in the write-in campaign.

Spelling counts :)

I was concerned there for a second that had to do with another medical mens term, not having to do with Men (IYKWIM).

Mens Rea is, of course, an element of the crime of Treason, And the Golfer-in-Chief has it in Spades. Or perhaps I should say "in excess."

IMHO, inclusion of the term sang- could have been considered somewhat inappropriate....

Sunny and 63 here-

The term mens rea isn’t
At all well understood
By Obamas’s rabid minions
Whether for ill or good

With enemies lists in hand
And bugging Watergate style
Even taxpayer funded galas
Take a backseat for awhile

As they embrace the playbook
Of Nixon and his merry bunch
They’re letting that paranoia
Put them into the same crunch

It’s also illegal to publicize, as David Corn did, the content of an illegally obtained recorded eavesdropping. Let’s hope they are all prosecuted. A+ for you.

Thank you! It is apparent that some people still don’t think about those pesky rules until they get busted.

What information is that? Can you tell me if they are closing the outbound Squirrel Hill tunnels tonight?

I’m at my home away from home, IAH, for another 3 hours.

Don't call it a comeback. The return of Weiner.

Will Weiner’s package pass public inspection? I am thinking it’s too small for them to notice. So small that voters will toss him back. I doubt he can fill the void Nanny Blooming Idiot will leave. Perhaps he has small male syndrome and wishes to follow in Rahm’s footsteps. Both are undersized with huge egos along with Bloomie. They can all take notes and compare in the showers...along with Eric Massa. Did I ever mention that after redistricting that I am in Massa’s old district?
