The FDA is considering a plan that would allow the dairy industry to add the sweetener aspartame to milk without having to label it.

The plan is coming under fire from some farmers and some consumer groups. …

Add whatever sweeteners they want to it - but it’ll be against the law to be drinkin’ a 32 oz. glass of it at one sitting, LOL!

I can’t deal with this sh!t anymore. I’ve decided my best course is to LAUGH at them, and continue to live under the radar and do as I please.

Until they ban Family Milk Cows, of course.

Sorry, Warden! We lost Bessie in a tragic boating accident along with all of our guns. She never was a strong swimmer...

The dairy industry for the past three years has been hoping to sell you some under the guise of just plain “milk,” so that chocolate and strawberry varieties that contain artificial sweeteners would no longer need to carry a special label.

Last week, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) acknowledged a 2009 petition from the International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) and the National Milk Producers Federation that seeks to drop the FDA requirement to label milk and other dairy products as “artificially sweetened” when they contain sweeteners such as aspartame.

The FDA asked the public to submit data, information and comments related to aspartame and other artificial sweeteners in milk last week.

The dairy lobby argues the opposite, claiming that allowing aspartame in milk would make it a healthier product and reduce childhood obesity by offering milk with fewer calories.

The move comes as milk’s popularity is in serious decline and other beverages, including soy and rice milk, take on more market share.

Aspartame is a known carcinogen. Do a search for “Sweet Misery” and watch it. They (the dairy industry and the FDA) are trying to kill us.

Dammit! I’m trying to get away from aspartame altogether. It’s an insidious sweetener that has specific withdrawal markers when you stop consuming it, most notably a low grade, persistent headache.

This is awful! What the HELL is happening to this world guys? Is NOTHING sacred?

Right. Just keep believing that... Organic is a scam as well. They can’t even agree on what “organic” means.

Well, then I’ll just sneak my money away from the dairy industry.

The EPA suddenly decided that saccharin is not a carcinogen back in 2010. Must mean that it’s a worse carcinogen than originally estimated.

I'm sorry to criticize you, Diana in Wisconsin, but the new term is "obama." That should save wear and tear on your exclamation point key.

No economic growth. Nobody's making any money. Everyone is thrashing around, trying to find anything that will help them pay their bills, not caring who they squash in the process. People are meaner and stupider, in person and online. Bad behavior - personal, governmental, and corporate - is becoming the norm.

what i do “know” is that when i bought any brand of non-organic milk, there was at least a 50% chance the milk would be bad before we finished the gallon. with the organic milk i have never had milk go bad, this goes back at least 8 years, even a few days after the exp date. there’s a definite quality difference in the milk.

This is nonsense. Even Fox is getting caught up in the incredible amount of misinformation out there. Since aspartame contains phenylalanine, anyone suffering from PKU has to avoid it. This can be serious, especially for children with PKU, so there is absolutely no way that the FDA is going to allow that this ingredient be used without a clear indication on the label.

You should probably find something else to freak out about.

"What would be the point?"

My thoughts, exactly. Unless American's tastebuds have become so perverted that they can no longer taste natural sweetness.

You would trust the motives (and integrity) of a government agency after Fast And Furious and Bengahzi?

Let me put it this way, there is no effin' way the FDA is going to allow something containing phenylalanine into a food product without making it clear on the label.

I possess a healthy distrust of government, but anyone believing this story isn't using their brain.
