My wife and I had a website like Gander Mountain which would let us sell and ship firearms without an FFL.
There were only 3 -4 states to which we could not ship.
Yep, I am from NC too. There is no such thing as a ‘registered’ gun here. You don’t have to show where you bought it.
But..... the law reads... its illegal to buy a pistol under such and such circumstances. You must have a permit or a CCW to buy a pistol.
After the fact... the gun is yours. Its nobody’s business where you got it from (including the government) as long as it has not been reported stolen. Since private individuals are not FFL dealers, they do not keep records of permits for buyers. So the law says nothing about selling... only buying.
But everytime I buy from a individual I have the gun ran through the system to make sure its not stolen. Thats just a given.
You can purchase online, but the firearm must be picked up in person at an FFL. Thus, you have to go to the seller, or have the firearm shipped to an FFL for a transfer.
There is no loophole.
Yet another unconstitutional infringement. An invalid law that must be challenged, along with all the others, up to the supremes.

Could have sworn I heard a reference to this bs on Fox’s show The Following, where the FBI was grilling a guy who they suspected was selling weapons to a militia group called Freedom 13. This is a group the show had earlier called “constitutionalists.” Bad guys, of course.

I know someone who bought a nice Garand through CMP over the internet and it was delivered to THEIR door by UPS!However, they lost it when the canoe tipped over.
All the internet weapons sites are required to ship the gun to an FFL dealer and then you pick it up there and get a background check. I just bought a gun from Impact.com and picked it up at my gun shop.
The Toomey Manchin bill uses a reiteration of laws already in effect to disguise a few new things like allowing a shrink to put you on the NICS no shoot list without even informing you.
It also requires a background check for private sales at gun shows. Just creeping gun control. They are getting what they can this year and will try to finally outlaw all private sales next time when they try to bring in gun registration. It will never end until we finally have the 1776 solution.
Uh, when was this law in place?
Few years ago I shipped my Walther PPK/S to S&W for repair using UPS, and S&W returned it to my UPS - if I remember correctly......
Sold it after it was fixed.
At least we can still buy muzzleloader/black powder weapons on-line without a FFL.
Luckily there ain’t no semi-auto black powder weapons.
??? You don’t mean for repair do you? I sent my Blackhawk back to Ruger for an extra cylinder. Costs a lot, but FEDEX does it.
As others have said, it’s a lie or at best a half truth. Any out of state online firearm purchase must go through a FFL dealer and there will be a background check. Guns bought through an internet ad from a private seller in the same state and paid for and collected face to face do not require a background check. At least that’s the way it is in Florida. This is the same as selling a TV or car on Craigslist. One private individual is selling his personal property to another private individual. This should be none of the governments business.
It’s gross ignorance, akin to thinking meat bought at a store is “humane” because it is shrink-wrapped and on a shelf instead of shot by a hunter. (Someone have that picture I’m referring to?)
They don’t understand that “buying guns on the Internet” is two sales: one from individual seller to licensed dealer, then licensed dealer to end buyer.
I just bought a gun online over the weekend. It arrives today at my FFL...and I have to go in and do all the paperwork as if it was a normal sale. The media is lying about how this process works.
