Ping for later...:)
Never saw it...
Unfortunately my mother gave me James Garner’s autobiography to read. He’s a flaming Democrat & a jerk besides. He’s always been one of my favorites, but no more. We watched another of his movies not too long ago & I just couldn’t enjoy it.
I knew he was a Democrat. But Doris I believe is very much a Republican.
That’s true.
One of the stories Garner told was being approached by a group of Republicans to run for office - as a Republican. He was highly insulted. But it tells me why we have so many troubles with R’s in office. How many are really just D’s who were willing to change party affiliation just to get in there?
True. Though it is interesting that Republicans would ask Garner to run for office. I can’t imagine any Republicans asking the likes of Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon, Sean Penn, etc., to run as a Republican for office. From most of the roles I’ve seen Garner in, the average viewer wouldn’t have any idea about his offscreen political views one way or another if he didn’t know already. And that’s how it should be IMHO. To paraphrase Laura Ingraham concerning movie stars and their views on the world, “shut up and act.”
“But Doris I believe is very much a Republican.”
Also a Rush fan.
Interesting. And certainly refreshing for a Hollywood star. In one way though it’s not too surprising. She was always a very hard-working woman who I’m sure knew the huge success she enjoyed came from living in America and the opportunities its freedom and capitalist system gave her. Unlike the Jane Fonda/Susan Sarandon crowd.
Then for a super dessert you can catch one of the best films ever, “Treasure of the Sierra Madre”, on TCM at 8:00 EST.......
