Thank you! They seem extremely intelligent to me, and also look like they could be lethal as a guard dog. The only dogs I've ever "had" have been ranch dogs (in the family), not pets (although good friends and companions if called for), but dogs with real jobs, mostly helping to manage livestock.

Every dog should have a job, IMO, even if it's to keep a lonely old lady company, which is indeed a very important job. The obnoxious miniature poodles my great aunties all had, may not have had the romantic job that my dad's cow dogs did, but they DID have jobs and I came to appreciate those yappy little dogs them once I got to thinking of them that way!

If I was ever going to get a dog, its "job" would be companion, guard/alarm, and exercise partner! I think it would be a Dobie, a large Standard poodle, or a German Shepherd.
