Man who dismembered corpse released in Fort Worth

FORT WORTH -- Police and family members say he's dangerous, and now he's been released in Fort Worth.
News 8 told you about Daniel Wayne Staley in March. He was placed in a mental hospital after digging up a corpse and cutting off it's foot. In journals, he's threatened to kill people. His family says he means it.
Staley was dropped off near downtown Fort Worth Friday at a homeless shelter with only a bag of clothes.
"I mean, they can't do anything about it now, can they?" he told News 8 in an exclusive interview. "I'm already back out."
That has many people worried.
Staley's been in and out of jail and hospitals since he was 10 years old. He told News 8 he enjoys killing cats and dogs.
"It was fascinating to kill animals, to kill something," he said.
His journals are troubling. He describes wanting to kill people and watch them suffer. But he said it's all creative writing.
"I wouldn't say I have a mental illness, but I got issues," he said. "But, I can guarantee you I'm not going to go out and kill someone."
He won't be monitored at a halfway house. By law, the state says he cannot be kept in a mental institution indefinitely.
But his family fears him. Especially when he's not taking his medication. He's been diagnosed with anti-social behavior and sexual sadism.
In May 2010, he dug up a woman's corpse in a Dallas cemetery and took some of the remains, including a foot. He was sent to a mental hospital after that.
News 8 asked what his fascination is with having a corpse or cadavers.
"I don't know, it's a real fetish of mine, I guess," he replied.
While in the hospital, Staley told us he attacked a nurse.
Dallas and Fort Worth police have tried to keep Staley from getting out, but can't. For a few months, he's supposed to report to a caseworker, but not one can force him to.
"It's all my decision what I do next," Staley said.
He’s got the standard middle name for it.
At least they dropped this sick punk off in a castle doctrine state. Hopefully he’ll be taken care of soon.

Why don’t these reporters ever name the jack-monkey(s) who decided the man can be released, and who signed the release orders? And then, let’s force them to keep him in their home for a month or two before releasing him into the public domain.

I would file this guy under the “pedophile rule.”
At some point, statistically such people are not worthy of second chances and therefore they should be separated from society and potential victims permanently.
It is the same with hardcore criminals - they continually re-offend and we continually let them out because they “deserve” the same rights of everyone else.
It is the same with the mother who struggles with drug abuse and has had two or more children removed from her custody - she has a new baby and we give her a third, fourth, or fifth chance expecting a different result irreparably damaging another child before an adoptive or foster family steps in.

The liberals have aided and abetted all of these crazies on the street for decades. They run in and file lawsuits, they lobby and legislate federal laws that prohibit locking these people in mental institutions and then we get school shootings by crazy people. I would like to see some conservative organizations begin to file lawsuits against the promoters and writers of these policies,etc.

You’re right and it’s both dangerous and sickening. Criminal “rights” have gone crazy and it’s thanks to libtard judges, libtard law makers and all the way up the chain. Libtards have successfully infiltrated all of our institutions, while conservatives have just “played by the rules.”
I am old enough to remember Geraldo back in the day going to all these institutions doing shows to get the nuts released. Typical liberal insanity...instead of fixing whatever problems actually exist in the facilities, the focus goes to the rights of the criminally insane. Just like in the battle with Islamists they run to defend the religious freedom of barbarians and animals all the while trying to limit freedoms of Christians and gun owners.
They hate conservatives more than they hate the evil of jihadis or the actions of the criminally insane when they mow down our citizens and children.

Despite pleas from family members and law enforcement, Staley is scheduled to be released from North Texas State Hospital on Thursday. Under the law, there is little that can be done; he can't be kept in a mental hospital for life.
Former District Judge John Creuzot took at look at the case. "Unfortunately, we are doing all the system allows us to do," he said. "The system just does not allow us to do enough, and you have a person like this that is unmanaged and uncompliant out on the streets... he can do anything, and we don't know until he does it."
Creuzot, who sat on the bench as a district judge for more than a decade, said there simply aren't enough caseworkers to keep track of people like Staley and the system is overburdened, so they are released back into our neighborhoods.

He was 18 when he dug up the grave and removed the foot. He showed it to the police and was taken into custody.

"This the first time he's threatened to do anything to me, to my knowledge," his mother said. "He's threatened to kill his dad."
She said she was at a loss about what to do to help her only child. When he's not on medication, she said, he's dangerous to himself and others.
"We've all tried to get him help," she said. "The problem is that the help is only temporary and he's released again, and someone with his kind of illness can't be released and expected to take care of himself. He's not going to take care of himself. He has no control over his mind."
Staley's mother said neither she nor other members of the family plan to bail him out. In fact, she hopes he stays put.
"I hope he stays in there for a long time," she said. "He does not need to be a free person. I hate to say that about my own child."
