On-Line Ammo Prices Starting to Drop (a wee bit)
556RECON ^ | Apri 21, 2013 | frankenMonkey

Posted on 04/21/2013 6:45:50 AM PDT by frankenMonkey

556RECON.com tracks trends and pricing for 5.56x45 NATO from on-line vendors (Cheaper Than Dirt, AmmoNet, etc.), and the average price has started to drop, if just by a few pennies per round.

62gr Green Tip has dropped from $1.10 to as low as $1.03. This is the average price, the lowest PPR is at 70 cents per round. 55gr Average PPR has dropped to $.90, with the lowest price at 70 cents per round.

Interestingly, Cheaper Than Dirt, where I (used to) buy, is consistently at the expensive end of the list, with LAX and Palmetto being the best buys. Also, they report 50% of vendors have stock available for purchase.

Which websites are selling ammo and don’t have an order backlog?

Everything listed on this page:
556x45 report.

It's updated hourly. Just click the "Vendor" link to go directly to the vendor's web page. I've been watching 556RECON for about a week, and vendors with stock come and go hour-to-hour. Vendors are also listed in the right hand column.

Right now I'm seeing Ables Ammo, Ammo.net, BulkAmmo, Cheaper Than Dirt, iAmmo, LAX, Palmetto and SurplusAmmo.

...a brick of .22 lr for “ONLY” $149.50.

Yep. Some of the on-line suppliers seem to be of the mind set "Let's rip'em a new one while we can".

People can say what they want about Wal-Mart, but at least they aren't gouging. I paid $19.70 plus tax a few days ago for a 500 round brick of Federal .22 40 gr round nose ammo.

As far as the left is concerned, Americans cannot
be trusted with these high capacity lead delivery systems.

Since “She of green eyes” finally, FINALLY, started thinking about her own home security (I thank her cousin for putting the right bug in her ear), I had to start looking to see what “flying soda cans”, and semi-wadcutters (not FBI loads) were available, to refill my bunker.

I’m still looking.

Fluctuations around $1.07 for M855 and a blip in M193 down 2-cents to $0.99 hardly constitutes a “drop” in ammo prices.

WHAT? Dang, I’m shocked that they had some. Did you show up as the truck was unloading? Like hens teeth where I am.

7.62 Nato is still way outta whack and rare. 7.62x39 is flush with Roosian stock and at a reasonable price. 9 mm is way too expensive as well as 45.

“everything listed is in-stock”

Just a word to the wise, most websites will let ya know if it really IS in stock, once you punch out. But there are still sites out there that do not update their webpages to actually track stocks.

People will keep what ammunition they have, and because of the prices, not many will be doing any recreational firing at all. Another consideration: anyone hunting or vacationing in Colorado at all is against our Second Amendment.

Do not buy ammo from auction sites. This is where all the ammo has "gone". They're being used go gouge and it won't work if we don't take it.

In fact, if everybody just stood down for a month and didn't buy anything that cost more than .50 a round for .223 or $5 a box for .22lr we might start to see a real improvement.

"I remember paying $200 for 500 NATO rounds shortly after ‘08 elections." I'd be happy just to see that again.
