only cut your “moonshine” 50% max. Use good cinnamon sticks. Let it set for at least a month.

Explain how going to the local state run liqueur
store and buying Everclear, adding my own spices
and drinking myself is a
felony??

I think if you are not distilling it, you’re OK. Beyond that, you will have to join the ping list for continuing education...

it will vary depending on the recipe, depending on the dilution. We in my area like it a little stronger and try for around 100 proof. A hydrometer will let you know where you are.

Using bottled Everclear isn't the same thing as untaxed distilling. The OP wants to infuse legal "White Lightning" with apple and spice flavoring.

IMO, there are better spirits for the task, such as the "White Dog" sold by Buffalo Trace. More corn flavor than Everclear and easier on the liver. It's a bit more expensive but worth it.

Adding flavor to existing spirits has an interesting history in this country. Do a web search for Martha Washington's "Cherry Bounce" recipe.

I would suggest;

Add apple slices to a boiled concoction of cinnamon and nutmeg and apple juice. Let the solids settle out in the frige for a few hours and transfer the clear liquid to your Everclear. Add sugar if you like it sweet.

If you use quart jars, add additional apple slices for visual effect.

Try to keep the ABV in the 90 proof zone, it will make a tastier brew.

Cheers

The secret to good apple pie is letting it sit after you mix it. One month minimum. You aren’t making a mix drink you are creating.

A friend had a a party with grain alcohol.

She remembered none of it.

I stuck to Cuervo.

I know my limits.

[but I still woke up on the floor with the dog guarding me by laying between me and some drunk guy I vaguely remembered as being enthralled. good dog.]

Good stuff! My Tennessee contacts have shared. I don’t know the exact “recipe” but I do know they use apple juice and a couple of sticks of cinnamon.

Good luck with your quest

Liquid Apple Pie. The ladies seem to like it around here where I live. If it is right, it tastes just like apple pie, not apple red shine just made with apples. It’s the cinnamon sticks that make it Apple Pie.

Everclear is already moonshine, ya fool. Why are you even bothering to mess with it?? What’s the point? Flavor?

Producing hard liqour in any volume, except as fuel, is quite illegal, and discussing it online is foolish.

Wrong. Federal law allows the individual to distillate products, albeit NOT FOR SALES.

Back to the law library.....
