Street Gangs in Papua New Guinea Look Terrifying

Papua New Guinea’s street gangs, the Raskols, make the gangster claims of US rappers look ridiculous. A Raskols idea of gang banging doesn’t involve bouncing on hydraulics in vintage Lincolns or wearing designer threads. These guys tote their own homemade weapons—from knives to guns. We had a quick chat about the Raskols with photographer Stephen Dupont, who spent time in PNG’s capital, Port Moresby, documenting them.

For those who don't know, could you sum up the situation in Papua New Guinea since independence from Australia in the 70s?

Papua New Guinea got independence from Australia in 1975 and has had various governments and leaders, most notably the recently deposed Michael Somare. Even though it's had a few military coups, constant tribal warfare, and a recently ended bloody civil war in Bougainville, it's always managed to remain relatively stable. That possibly has something to do with having over 800 tribes scattered around many islands and remote territories.
...
Let's talk about the weapons. A number of the guns look homemade, or at least crudely modified. What's the deal with that?

Yes, the weapons, guns, and knives are often made by hand inside the settlement. Guns are very expensive and hard to come by in Papua New Guinea, so the locals have started to make their own—I think some are works of art.

Interesting comments.

The homeboy with the machete better step up his game. How da f**k you gonna bring a machete to a gun fight?

i am sure there are a bunch of dudes missing arms in papa new guinea who would beg to differ...

There are no legal guns in Papua New Guinea. Only police and Army are allowed guns. that is why the guns are homemade and they carry machetes, axes, spears, bows and arrows. The criminals however usually hunt in packs of no less than four so a single person is seriously outmanned.

Would be good if they took their rebellious attitude to the Indonesian side of New Guinea.

It’s interesting to imagine what would happen to these hoodlums if they roamed Port Moresby when the 5th Air Force was there. They would have been washing laundry, or they would have been thrown in the dump.

What in the world is that! Is it part of a hollywood movie? Or is it something recorded at a clash between union and non-union workers? What???

From the comments, "There are no legal guns in Papua New Guinea. Only police and Army are allowed guns. that is why the guns are homemade and they carry machetes, axes, spears, bows and arrows. In other words, decent people don't have a chance.

Yes they do. They are just not pissed off yet because nothing has happened to them, personally.

When the "Common Sense Gun Universal Test for Sanity (GUTS) background check system is giving the neo-comunists "justification" for confiscation of all firearms from "92%" of the owners after passage in the 2022 Congress the remaining real American Citizens will have nothing left to lose.

Debt will be over 40 Trillion, health care will be a veterinarian level, "immigration" forms will be one page, same day, 20 dollar fee, 67% income tax on "the rich" (over 50k) and all of this will exist because the go-pees haven't got a ounce of nuts between them.

They will be busy conducting war with "disruptive conservatives." And faggots like little bammy hussein will be screeching to "news" cameras during the breaks from their mutual hump sessions that wanting gunz iz mentally unstable.

Sound far fetched?

That is only nine years from now.

This is why we need to keep the 2nd Amendment strong and for the use of the people.
