Ooh, I really like some of the innovation that the airgun world is seeing these days. I’m playing with bulk fill kits and adjustable triggers on my QB78 and old Crosman 160. Not match-grade, but either would’ve made this squirrel’s day end badly.
The other thing that came to mind was when Hopalong Cassidy, et al, would throw some ammo into the Bad Guys camp fire and when they went off, the BGs dropped like flies.
Please don’t be a Floridian... Son of a...!
Hold my beer and watch this PING!~!!
Good thing this was in Florida or I would have worried about the ‘gunner :-)

Dang, you’re right. There’s probably not a lot of FReepers here who remember Hoppy and other Western Heroes of the 50s throwing cartridges in the campfire.
Good memories. :-)
There but the Grace of God LOL
Yes....but thin brass casings seem to make lousy firing chambers.
I believe gunner has done this twice with limited success.
While I will admit to having used an air rifle to set off the occasional cartridge a time or two, it had never occurred to me to try taping the cartridge to the muzzle.
Now where is the JB Weld and those .45-70 rounds. Oh and a long string to put on the trigger:-)
Maybe this is something for next years shoot as the folks at Dietz might not have that great a sense of adventure and humor.

I have quite a few .45-70 rounds but I will gladly donate a .50BMG to the cause.
We are in Texas and we blow things up Texas size around here.
;<)
I might be willing to sacrifice the old Crossman I have, if I can get it to pump up.
We shall see how things go next year

You are going to make it to this years TCM shoot aren’t you?
The Mrs and I have plans on being there.
Only a month or so to go

“BBs seem to make perfect secondary firing pins.”
As a dumb kid I found a shotgun shell and wedged it into the crook of a tree. Then got back about 15 feet and stood behind a second tree. Aimed carefully with my Daisy BB gun trying to set the thing off.
First shot I nailed the thing. Didn’t set it off, but the BB ricochet right back at me and hit me. I don’t recall where - but glad it wasn’t in my eye! (I don’t think as a ten-year old back in the day my folks or I had even heard of safety glasses!)
Never tried that again. Other dumb stuff - sure. But not that!
