Don't let the elites fool you....they're pushing their agenda--not everyones!
I recall it was certainly a success upon release. It made back its’ cost and then some.
I’ve never seen it, and have no desire to, but #672 on the all-time box office list is hardly a “dud.”
Err, I’d think #672 all time is actually not that bad at all.
I’ve never seen it, nor would I want to - but I think your example here is not particularly good.
Since “The Last Temptation of Christ” has been celebrated, promoted and praised for more than a quarter century, most Americans probably think that it was pretty successful.
It’s all-time gross, is just over 8 million dollars.
The film made money, over $100M if I recall. Not a dud, sorry.
the only people who remember that movie are its protesters, and of that 8 million gross, the publicity its protesters engendered probably was responsible for 3/4
a lot of people nowadays thing faggotry is fine (as long as they’re not a participant)
It actually still has a fairly high reputation in cinephile circles.
it was awful. Harvey Keitel in full Brooklynese “Ay uh Jeezus, and alla youse guys listen up heah, Dis guy is da son o’ God and he can do what he likes, you know! Fuhgeddaboutit!”
I appreciated what he was trying to do...after all those religiously informed New York films he had made here was a film about religious figures behaving like people from Brooklyn.
I went to see a movie where Brokeback Mountain was being run in an adjoining theater. Prior to entering the building, the manager put up a sign stating that Brokeback was sold out for the next showing.
No matter, I was seeing something else but during my movie I had ro go to the restroom. On my way back to my seat, I looked in at the auditorium showing Brokemack and saw about twenty or thirty people in an auditorium designed to hold two or three hundred.
From that I decided that Brokeback was a flop propped up with funny-money from some coalition of liberal organizations.
Would be interesting to check DVD and download stats to see if they are consistent with the official boxoffice figure.
It means it made less Money than only a little more tha 650 films. It should not have made 8 times more than it cost. It really should be ranked 1,000,000 and made zero money, but that was not the case sadly.
The Pasion Of Christ which was directed by Mel Gibson earned $370,274,604. So blow that up your pipe and smoke it.
Look at post 7 again, what do you think my purpose was in revealing to people that it has only grossed 8 million dollars with all of the celebrity and promotion and glorifying of it by the media that it has received for the 25 years since it’s release?
Except that both of those statistics would be overly influenced by the media itself. Frankly, about the only data to be trusted would be from intrepid souls who slipped a bag over their heads and went to see the movie and then counted the actual viewers.
